Pretentious, Overhyped & Overpriced. We were so excited to check this place out and it took a long time to get a reservation because of how trendy it is. Your party will have a room of their own, but the it will be open and people will walk through often. The chairs are retro, but at the expense of being very uncomfortable and the tables are sparsely placed as to make it almost impossible to eat. It's akin to eating at a friend's house with your plate on your lap and that means eating a lamb chop with your bare hands unless you want to try and use a knife and fork (not advised). Speaking of the 2-piece $21 Lamb Chops, they came out gray with no charring and one of them was raw in the middle with un-rendered fat. They (along with all of the other dishes we ordered) came with a pile of spring mix and balsamic reduction on top. There is no starch and it gets very repetitive if you order more than one thing. The Hawaiian Chicken Skewers had 3 tiny pieces of meat on each of them for $15 and the same boring spring mix with sweet balsamic. The Bone Marrow was also undercooked and everything we ordered was overly sweet, leaving us feeling kind of sick by the end. As for the drinks, they are pretentious to the point of being almost undrinkable. I ordered the "Colony Cocktail" at the advisement of our server and it was like drinking Ajax mixed with lemon. They are also one of the "huge single ice cube in the middle of the glass" kind of bars where you are not getting your money's worth. Especially when the drink costs $18... I then ordered a beer, expecting a nice draft pint due to the $13 price tag and was very disappointed to receive a tallboy can and a glass for me to pour myself. With the prices they are charging, I expected a lot more. I would give them 1 star, but the service was very friendly and made it a fun environment. If you do come here, plan on ordering the charcuterie board only (as it was a standout), expect to sit in an uncomfortable chair and order a drink that you would normally order...
Read moreGreat addition to Everett, the food missed the mark, and the drinks were just above average (for Everett, near the top). The atmosphere is very nice, warm, and comfortable, but the service was excellent, albeit slow (we went on day 2).
We sampled three of their drinks: The Dark Walnut, which my partner loved. I felt it was a tad too sweet but well made. I also had the Alfred Hubbard and Penicillin on the recommendation of our server's husband. Both were good, but not outstanding enough to share with my friends (which I often do when a drink is amazing, different, or really bad). Considering the prices in Everett, I don't think they hit the 5-star mark.
For food, we started with the Charcuterie Board, which was average. There were not enough crackers or other crispy textured items to balance out the plate. The assortment of meats was good, the cheeses were plenty, but the fruit was average. There was a bacon jam that was excellent. However, without a cracker or more crostini, it felt incomplete. Also, the crostini was barely toasted, not crisp, and was bland. Our second food item was the Bone Marrow, which was okay but needed salt. It also came with lightly toasted crostini, which could have used some oil/butter and should have been properly toasted. There was also a side of greens that felt out of place and unnecessary. If it was meant to be a garnish, it was excessive and felt more like an undressed salad.
The service was very good. Our server was nice, chatted just enough, and gave some suggestions (although, it's a bit iffy to claim a favorite item on the second day of operation). Overall, the service seemed a tad slow, but that can be attributed to new place jitters.
I recommend visiting this place. It was good, and I hope they improve on the little things. Everett needs more places like this, and this bar adds a...
Read moreThis was our first time here. The good was the view (beautiful Puget Sound and Olympic mountain range) and the historical setting (Old Weyerhaeuser Building). However, the drinks (we had the whiskey flight) were WAY overpriced and you do not get much. When the bartender said you get a taste of each whiskey, she literally meant a taste 🤣. The flight was $25 plus tip. You can get an entire bottle of, say, Proper 12, for the same price. I know I know, you are paying for the service and the experience, but still, that hurt a bit. We were there around 2pm. The bar does not open until 4pm, but they do serve a handful of alcoholic drinks and coffee. When you walk into the front entrance, you immediately see the day bar. This is where you place your order, pay, and pick it up. Then you choose wherever you would like to sit. We chose to sit on their back deck area since it was such a beautiful day. You can also choose to sit in one of the several different rooms, each with their own unique aesthetic. We also peeped the night bar, which is in the neighboring room to the day bar area. I was expecting the interior to be a bit bigger or open. It is pretty small. They do have little plaques and pictures where you can read some historical information about the building. Overall, I was underwhelmed with the place. From what I had heard, I was expecting a more upscale, classy place with an historical flair and uniquely curated cocktails. Maybe we should have come for the nighttime service, but I expect it’s not much different. I think they are onto something and the bar has potential, but they need to lean into it a little more, in my opinion. If you go, plan to spend at least $25/cocktail. They also do not have a food menu, and they do not...
