Updating my review. This place has changed owners since the old review. I think it even went through a period where it was doing the ghost-kitchen thing; if you ordered Greek or pizza from a South Everett place on DoorDash, it probably would have come from here.
Anyways, all that is in the past from what I can tell; I was just there the other day for breakfast and it seems like the only identity crisis it has now is, "Is this Patty's Eggnest or Teto's?"
In any case, the food has improved significantly and they got rid of all the goofy window art. There's still a creepy liminal vibe when you dine in, as the decor still hasn't changed and every table seems to come with a Tabasco bottle full of dried hot sauce stains and maybe 1/4" of liquid. However, they're giving generous portions of well-prepared breakfast entrees, and the coffee is good & strong. Still haven't tried their lunch or dinner offerings, will update accordingly when I do. But I just had to give it back some stars. The new ownership is a HUGE improvement.
OLD REVIEW: There's a sticker on one of its windows that says "Passion for kitchen is in our nature", which by itself sounds like something written by space aliens trying to blend in. However, right underneath it, is a cartoon of someone cooking on a campfire - no kitchen in sight. This is eerily accurate to the experience of dining here - a general tone-deaf mimicry of the diner experience that screws up the details.
I ordered the grilled chicken with prawns. I received a "chef salad" that was just lettuce and croutons, two tough and dried out chicken breasts that tasted like they were made from frozen, steamed flavorless vegetables (also bearing evidence of being from a frozen bag), and a skewer of rubbery prawns encrusted in a confusing seasoning mix I struggle to describe, concluding only that it was "too much everything". They wanted 30 bucks for this! The service was fine enough, and I left the poor over-worked single waiter a decent tip.
If you absolutely must dine expensively in South Everett but you're scared of international cuisine, then they're here for you. Be ready to spend 25-30 a plate on frozen & canned restaurant supply stock, prepped by a kitchen staff with far less "passion for kitchen" than their weird window art...
Read moreThis was my first and last experience at One Twelfth Street Diner. I took a walk with my kids and stopped by this diner to get some food to go. The cashier initially told me that she couldn't do drinks to go, but ended up sending them anyway, which I hesitantly appreciated. After receiving my order and a half hour walk home, I realized the kids turkey sandwich I had ordered and paid for was not present. So I drove back to the diner to get the missing item. The cashier that had originally handled my order insisted that she had given me the complete order. I started to explain the items I had received, when she cut me off and finished listing off the items on my order. I said again that the kids turkey sandwich was missing to which she responded that they would make me another one, but she had put it in with the rest of the items. I reiterated that I would not have driven all the way back to that diner if that were the case. She wouldn't stop saying that she put it in there, which was frustrating as all hell. She was incredibly inpatient, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I spoke to the manager on site, who was very kind and apologized on behalf of the employee. After receiving my replacement order, I drove home and found that I had in fact received this item. The kids turkey sandwich was apparently not a sandwich at all. It's a slice of bread with turkey on top, covered in gravy, which I thought was the mashed potatoes and gravy side that it originally comes with. If the employee had not cut me off from describing the order I received, that would have been the end of it. I would have admitted fault and gone on my way. I called the diner to apologize to the manager and further explain the situation. An employee answered and stated that the manager was not on site, whether this was true or not, I did not have the time in my day to drive back to the diner and verify. Thus, I am writing this review to apologize for the miscommunication and further communicate my lingering dissatisfaction with the young ethnic female employee's lack of...
Read moreIf I could give it zero stars I would! I will never go back to this restaurant. I have never left a restaurant so angry.
There were 4 of us, we walked in and were seated quickly. It was rather empty but there was about 4 other tables with customers. It took 4 to 5 minutes to bring us water, which we understand. The waitress came over minutes later and asked us what we wanted to order. We informed her that we weren’t ready and she just walked away. 10 minutes later, she came back and asked again. We got 2 coffees, which were terrible. They tasted like old coffee that just kept being used, just is ridiculous like 6 oz coffee and was about $5 a cup. We also got a hot chocolate that was watered down and small as well. We had ordered French toast, an omelet, a waffle meal, and a sandwich. We waited around 45 minutes for our food. When the food finally came out, not one single thing was warm. All of the food was cold and disgusting. The waitress did not come to check on us once. None of us could even eat half of our food it was just so bad. She did not bring us a check so we had to go up to the counter. We proceeded to ask if we could talk to a manager, she told us that one wasn’t there. So we asked who we could talk to. She said “you can talk to me”. We told her how bad the food was and that it was disgusting. She said that it was cold because the cooks turned off the heaters and that is why everything was cold.
This does not make any sense. Walking 15 feet and the food is magically cold, even though it was just cooked… I don’t think so. We noticed that at the other end of the restaurant most of the waitresses were just sitting at a table talking. The cooks were not wearing face masks or hair nets, and were paying more attention to each other and their phones than the food.
On top of the other issues I mentioned, none of the food had any seasoning and was very bland and EXTREMELY OVER PRICED!
I will never come here again and I will never recommend anyone else to go...
