"Destined to Become Seattle's Hottest Whiskey Bar"

This was our first time here. The good was the view (beautiful Puget Sound and Olympic mountain range) and the historical setting (Old Weyerhaeuser Building). However, the drinks (we had the whiskey flight) were WAY overpriced and you do not get much. When the bartender said you get a taste of each whiskey, she literally meant a taste 🤣. The flight was $25 plus tip. You can get an entire bottle of, say, Proper 12, for the same price. I know I know, you are paying for the service and the experience, but still, that hurt a bit. We were there around 2pm. The bar does not open until 4pm, but they do serve a handful of alcoholic drinks and coffee. When you walk into the front entrance, you immediately see the day bar. This is where you place your order, pay, and pick it up. Then you choose wherever you would like to sit. We chose to sit on their back deck area since it was such a beautiful day. You can also choose to sit in one of the several different rooms, each with their own unique aesthetic. We also peeped the night bar, which is in the neighboring room to the day bar area. I was expecting the interior to be a bit bigger or open. It is pretty small. They do have little plaques and pictures where you can read some historical information about the building. Overall, I was underwhelmed with the place. From what I had heard, I was expecting a more upscale, classy place with an historical flair and uniquely curated cocktails. Maybe we should have come for the nighttime service, but I expect it’s not much different. I think they are onto something and the bar has potential, but they need to lean into it a little more, in my opinion. If you go, plan to spend at least $25/cocktail. They also do not have a food menu, and they do not have servers.

Wow! The ambiance in every room - including the restroom, is jaw-droppingly astounding! The history that comes with this remarkable Weyerhaeuser building is also fascinating. Getting here can be confusing with the surrounding construction, but once you make it the views of Jetty Island, Possession Sound, and the marina are well worth it! During the morning and day time hours the north side of the building is open and serves as the cafe with coffee, breakfast and bakery items, and limited libations. No full bar options, so our hopes of bloody Maria's and espresso martinis were crushed. We did get the champagne flight, which was fine. It's counter style ordering, so no table service and it's seat yourself. Mostly quaint and intimate 2-seater or solo seat options in the auxiliary rooms, and couches in the main room with a glorious fireplace. Service was ok. All but one barista gave off vibes like they'd rather be anywhere else but there, especially when their self-service water pitcher went empty. Asking for it to be filled in a 'so sorry to bother' way didn't soften or solicit a friendly or service based response with the gal behind the counter. However, when (what seemed to be the owners) were checking in, the demeanor and tone flipped a 180, which is why I'm giving only 3 stars. I'm hoping the unfriendly and slightly pretentious interactions were a one-off, and will try again for an evening visit. Lots of walk in to-go coffee orders, and more working/study in sweats clientele than expected but it was comfortable to be in a casual environment. Not sure the food is what will bring me back (aside from being deterred by service), but I'm willing to see if The Muse can match the wonder of the amazing atmosphere they've preserved.

Honest review. We really enjoyed our visit to The Muse and will definitely be back! We live in Everett and love seeing the food/beverage scene picking up. Atmosphere was classy. We love the restoration of the historic building and the inclusion of historic photos and stories around the space. The view is breathtaking, especially at sunset. It can't be beat. Drinks were delicious, if on the pricey side for Everett. I will definitely go back for the Gold Rush cocktail 👍. As a cider drinker I think they are seriously missing the boat on local craft ciders though. Only one cider on the menu was disappointing. Hopefully that improves. Food was delicious but the menu is out of balance. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and the salad was very tasty. What's missing from the menu are carbs! It's like a keto restaurant. Some fried potatoes, chips, fancy popcorn, nuts, rice... Something starchy and snacky would round out the menu. The charcuterie board is a good concept but for $32 it was pretty sparse. Servers were very friendly and they are trying hard. However we did get a bit of attitude from the hostess because we didn't have a reservation. Typically a small plates cocktail and coffee bar shouldn't require reservations, especially on a weeknight. Some more front of house training could help guests feel more welcome. Definitely looking forward to seeing how they settle-in and find their way. As I said, we really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back with friends and out-of-town guests. Try the Gold Rush! So good.

Great little place. Will definitely come back though its a little far and out of the way. The only thing I do not like is that they have no phone number so you can call to let them know you’re running late or to adjust your reservation (even if its to increase/decrease headcount). The fact that they require a credit card to hold the reservation and a policy of charging $10 per person, you would think they would have a phone number. DRINKS: Whiskey: The Dark Walnut (Irish whiskey, walnut, pistachio, agave nectar, espresso) $22 - AMAZING! Whiskey: Old Fashioned $13 Cordials: The Wax Poet (Beeswax infused cognac, marigold liqueur, amaretto, and lime juice) $22 Cordials: The Bohemian (Brown butter washed cognac, dark rum, orange pear, bitters) $20 Vodka: The Affair (strawberry/orange infusion, lemon oleo saccharum, peaflower, gin flight) $18 - so awful. It didn’t matter if you stirred it to mix the gin that sits on top into the drink. Single Penderyn Moscatel De Setubal Wine Cask $44 Single Oban Single Malt Distillers Edition Double Matured $31 Single Suntory Yamazaki 12 years $30 Single Glenmorangie 18 year Ex Rare $50

This place is certainly up and coming, if they can just do a few crucial tweeks. Pros: Beverages were the star! Cocktails were delicious and the flavor combinations were cleaver and successful. Food that was in stock was fresh and tasty. Staff was definately trying and were quite friendly. Tables were comfortable and each space felt independent of the next. Cons: Biggest con, hands down, was the music. If they had gone with 1920s, it would've made it easier to spend a little extra and try a 20s vintage beverage (very spendy). Anything contemporary would have worked as well. The music was a weird beach boys/temptations vibe which just doesnt fit with fine liquor, cocktails or dining. Honestly, the physical atmosphere was beautiful but cheapened but the blaring oldies. Other cons: were they were out of 2/6 menu items but substituted well enough. Staff was new so a bit of a knowledge gap. Both of these will work themselves out with time. Overall: good with the potential for greatness. I'll reevaluate before too long.
