I am a huge fan of gallos donuts and have always went to the Mt Laurel location but I decided to use the Marlton location for a birthday cake. I should have known the minute I called to order it wasnât going to be the best experience. I called to place an order for a chocolate moose birthday cake for a Sunday pick up of 10-18. When I placed the order the customer service wasnât the best due to the fact of me wanting to pick it up at 1:30pm when they close at 2pm. I was told they want people to be there a hour before closing due to people arriving too close to their closing time and causing their girls to stay pass 2pm. As any business this is bound to happen that last minute customer walking in but to basically be annoyed I wouldnât get there until 1:30pm should have been my red flag to go somewhere else. Luckily my husband is a huge fan of the chocolate moose cake so I decided against my better judgment to still order his cake from here. Sunday rolls around and i go to pick up the cake. While standing in line there were two people ahead of me. One lady was waiting for her cake to be fixed because they spelled the name wrong. The gentleman in front of me was next and when shown his cake the lady ask did we spell the name correct on your cake? He replies yes. Now Iâm getting nervous because Iâm like did they mess up mine too? Iâm like no way because when I called she asked me several times how to spell it and spelled it back to me so I thought I was good. But Iâm super nervous because if you have to ask every customer if their cake is correct and stand there anxiously waiting for them to say yea makes me think you need to hire a new cake decorator. Now itâs my time. The cake comes up she says is everything good is the name spelled right? I look at it and ask them what the last letter is supposed to be. Neither of the girls at the register could tell me and she got super defensive and puts her hands up and said I donât know it wasnât me I didnât do it. At this point all I did was ask what the letter was, not rude at all just a simple question. I said ok I understand you didnât do it but itâs clearly not his name. They both agree. She says are you not happy? I said no i am not happy. She then says well I donât even have the color to try and fix the name. So I stand there shocked by the way she is treating me due to their mistake. She says what time is your party. I tell her 2pm she then ask if I had time to run to mt Laurel so they can try to fix it but I didnât. I had already paid in full for my cake. I stand there like what am I supposed to do now and she could careless about it being my problem and was so defensive the whole time. She says itâs been a day and the person doing the cakes has been messing up all day. Again how is this my problem? She says she was going to send a picture to her boss and took my order slip since it was paid in full and said she would have her boss call me since I wasnât happy. It is now 11-8-20 and I still have not received a phone call from the boss. I am a person that will drive the distance for great customer service and will no longer be driving here due to the horrible customer service and cake decorating they have. Needless to say the cake taste good but having a party during Covid is already hard enough not being able to have everyone there so the few people that could come all they could talk about was me not knowing to how to spell my husband name on his cake! I am not sure why it doesnât give me an option to add a photo but I do have one of the misspelled name of the owner...
Read moreI called this morning, and was trying to order a chocolate 8 inch cake with vanilla frosting. I was told by the young girl that answered the phone that they only had whip cream icing. Iâve been to gallos many times and have bought many cakes from here and I know that thatâs not right. She said she had to hold on and then I think we got disconnected. I called back and the same girl answer the phone and told me that yes they did in fact have chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. I said great I will take one, can you please write these three names on it. She said, I donât think we can fit three names, and then disappeared on hold for another Five minutes. At this point the manager comes on and states they donât have any cakes and theyâre shipped in from a different place and itâs hard when youâre ordering for the same day as pick up. It was an eight chocolate cake with vanilla frosting I thought that might be doableđ¤ I think they have to make sure whoever answers the phone knows whatâs going on. The manager went on to tell me about staffing constraints and so on and so forth. Very disappointed and you can see how small places go under. I told her I was calling ShopRite which I did, and she told me to have a good day without much care or concernâšď¸ I would not be surprised to see this bakery ends up where all the other ones have been lately. on the plus side, people tell me the ShopRite cakes are delicious, so I guess that will be the place from now on.đ¤ˇââď¸ Lynn S. ââ*Updateâ thank you for getting back to me, I was told by the girl on the phone that nothing was made in the bakery and everything was shipped in. I didnât think I would need to call ahead for an 8 inch chocolate cake at 8:30 in the morning to be honest. So I was surprised. many times I have walked in that bakery and picked out a cake. I wasnât asking for a sheet cake or even a half a sheet just a small 8 inch cake.đ¤ just a very confusing experience, but all ended well....
Read moreCame during covid crisis, met a really nice lady wearing a mask. Place was empty as expected, but they did have plenty on display. I wanted a cake for my mom's bday, and she brought out an extensive book with many options for me to choose from. I asked a bunch of questions, and she had answers for every question I had, and finally I settled on the carrot cake. I asked for it to be completed early morning the next day so I could pick up and drive home, and it was ready for me right away. The next day, another lady got it for me and was very courteous and kind and told me we'd love the carrot cake and it was her favorite. Man, was she right!! My family LOVED the cake! It was moist, frosting was perfect and not ridiculously sweet, it had plenty of nuts and raisins in it and kept each bite interesting and tasty!! Writing this review a week later, I am craving more of the cake!! Fantastic cake, I got the 7 inch one for under $25 (better than the other bakery prices in the area) and it was absolutely perfect!! Definitely coming back, next time I'm going to try the Pina colada cake!!...
