My husband and I love to go to Turning Point, and we have been going for years. With that being said, we just had a horrible experience at the Marlton Turning Point which completely shocked us both. I ordered half salad and half sandwich. When it was given to us, I had the half salad, but the sandwich was 2 halves instead of 1. The guy who gave us our food left rather quickly because it was busy as usual, and I didn't get a chance to mention anything about the 2 halves. I proceeded to eat. The waitress checked on us a few minutes later, and then about 2 minutes after that, the manager, Kim, came over to me and said, "you ordered half and half, correct?" I responded that I did, but was given two halves of the sandwich. She explained to me that's not what I ordered, and made it seem like she was going to charge me more since a mistake was made on their end. I responded by saying, "You can take one half of the sandwich, but I bit this half." I said this almost in a joking manner, as the food was already at my table and touched by me. Kim responded by saying, "hmmmmmm," looked around, walked away, grabbed a napkin, AND PROCEEDED TO TAKE HALF OF THE SANDWICH OFF OF MY PLATE, then walked away. I was so shocked and so was my husband. Then I became a little agitated after I thought about it more. I thought.... what are you going to do with that? Serve it?! (Wow, that's a little scary), Have someone in the back it eat? (Yikes, gross), Or are you that bad of a manager that you are just throwing it away because you don't want me to benefit from a mistake made on the restaurants end. I am thinking that my husband and I will not be returning to Marlton's Turning Point. Very...
Read moreWent here for brunch, which was about 10:45AM. The atmosphere was relaxing, subtly whimsical because of the way the room flow together and the many slightly different decorations (there is a cool sideways ceiling fan in one of the rooms). The wait staff was friendly and helpful, and the meals were made pretty fast for a restaurant like that.
As for the food, the meals seem to walk the line between subtle, complex flavor, and having no taste at all. I ordered the vegan breakfast sandwich, and my girlfriend ordered waffles. Each came with a side of potatoes. Now those potatoes were fantastic! They had perfect texture and were well seasoned, not too salty as many are. Her waffles were very middle-of-the-road. The syrup provided was that proper natural maple syrup, which was cool. waffles are waffles though, not much to expect. My breakfast sandwich left much to be desired. The bread was very normal for a sandwich, lacking any unique texture despite the bread being visibly toasted. The tomatoes had no flavor, just tomato texture. The strongest flavor was the pickled onions, which were delicious. I could pick them out well, like navy blue on a black wall. The beyond sausage was just heated out of the package with nothing else going on. (not that they had to do that but I had expected them to season it if that was the only flavor besides pickled onions.
The prices were not too crazy for the atmosphere and location, but is not really worth it for what really amounted to diner quality food. Maybe they know how to make a mean egg, but Turning Point would, while not my last resort, never be...
Read moreThe only reason I am giving this place two stars and not one is because the food was pretty good. We went today, 11/13, and it was a busy Sunday morning. We were told the wait was going to be 10-15 minutes for a table but ended up waiting about 35 minutes, totally fine they're busy. We then went to our table and the last tip was still on the table, cash and signed receipt. It's weird to seat a table when the last one's tip is still there. The menus we were handed were dirty and scribbled on in crayon. Additionally the water pitcher our table was given was dirty, having hardened egg on the outside and my cup was dirty. I asked for a new cup, and didn't even realize the outside of the pitcher was dirty until we had already drank from it. The waitress refilled the dirty one and then proceeded to hand it back, we just didn't drink anymore water. Additionally some of our silverware was dirty and when we got our drinks, only after our food was brought there was a huge lipstick stain on the outside of the mug. I just sent the drink back and didn't even bother getting another. The mug had to go through the dishwasher, the person making the drinks, and our waitress and it still came out with the huge lipstick stain. Not only were we not offered an apology at any point from the server, someone was going around to each table asking how everything was, I'm assuming it was the manager, and conveniently skipped our table after all of the dirty dishes we sent back. Needless to say we will...
