I used to love coming to this bar because it is a quick easy Uber ride from my house. However recently I caught on to the fact that one of the bartenders had been taking my name and the names of my guests off our credit cards and stalking us on Facebook. She even went as far as to reach out to some of my guests that i had brought with me by messaging them and telling them when and where and who I had been there with recently. Not only is this a total invasion of privacy and completely unprofessional, but it's freaking creepy man! This girl was a complete stranger to me! Rather than going on yelp right away (because I've been in the service industry for 15+ years myself and I know how reviews can make or break an establishment) or confronting this girl to her face, I went in to let the management know that she had been taking personal information from their guest credit cards and that I wouldn't be returning until I knew she wasn't there anymore. The GM started off by defending her and saying it seemed out of character.. ok? And? I HAD SCREENSHOTS OF THE MESSAGES FOR PROOF! I gave him my name and number expecting a follow up call and received nothing in return. I guess they're just ok with their staff invading people's privacy and driving money away. I wouldn't go to this bar unless you want to risk feeling like you're under constant surveillance while you're trying to have a good time with your friends. Oh and also try to pay in cash, because if she took my name off my credit card, who knows what other information she took down. Food, drinks and atmosphere are great for a local bar, and I'm really upset that I can't go back there without knowing if this woman was fired or even reprimanded. I am a bartender myself, so I don't want to sound like a snobby yelp reviewer that has nothing better to do with my time than go for blood, but I also know that if I EVER did something like this to a guest at my job, I would be instantly fired. As a bartender you have 3 jobs, make good drinks, be at least semi-friendly, and most of all, be discreet with your guests information. This bartender failed all three. It was fun while it lasted Firkin, but with an issue of this magnitude you should have at least taken the time to follow up with me as a human being after my personal information was so greatly compromised by your staff. I've never felt so violated by a...
Read morePretty Firkin Good. We tried the Firkin Tavern tonight for the first time. We had a small party and going out on a Friday night we anticipated a little wait. It took about 15 minutes to get a table.
We were seated and a waitress came up to take our drink order. She was covering for another waiter (Matt). Our drinks came and they were good. We ordered the Oktoberfest Draft, Heineken Draft and a couple sodas. Everything came out as expected. Our waiter must have been covering other tables and the young waitress that took our drink order noticed, and she took our food order to ensure we didn’t have to wait any longer.
We ordered the Fish and Chips, French Onion Soup, French Dip, Burger and for appetizers we ordered the pretzel and nachos.
The food order came out in a reasonable time. They were very busy which is a good thing but with any restaurant on a Friday evening there’s always going to be a little wait.
The waitress came back to deliver the food to the table with some other staff. Everything came out hot and it was delicious. Our waiter stopped by to check on us - this was the first time we saw him.
It’s ok because the waitress covering for him made sure to check on us regularly, refill our drinks and ensure we were taken care of. Our waiter stopped by to leave the check. One of the runners got us to go boxes.
Overall it was a really good dinner. We will be back. My wife made a point to pay in cash so she could give the tip to the waitress that took care...
Read moreThis place is awesome and they deserve 5 stars. They have the BEST rotating craft beer list around. Yes, it's American fare - lots of burgers, sandwiches, wings, pizza, and fried food. But they also have tons of entrees, and homemade sauces (Firkin Signature, blue cheese, southwest, hot honey - so many good ones :). And the sandwich combinations are delicious. I don't bother with sandwiches and wraps at other places, but here, they're worth it - the spicy chicken, the bang bang shrimp, fish tacos, hot honey chicken wrap. The options are creative, delicious, and everything tastes homemade - even down to amazing jalapeno peppers on the spicy chicken sandwich, which are crunchy and spicy, but pickled just right (they do not taste canned/jarred). The rolls are always great - not soggy, not overpowering the contents. They have a great selection to choose from of fish, chicken and beef dishes. What they do, they do extremely well. We are usually meeting for quick food and a beverage, so I haven't really tried the entrees, but I bet they're as good as everything else. Great service, great bartenders, plenty of space around the bar, a separate restaurant area, and a huge game room in the back. Sure - some of the barstool covers are ripped, some of the high top tables are wobbly, and it can seem a little divey. But that's sort of part of the charm, and even if you don't find that charming, everything else makes up for it. Five...
