Good food and service! I was fortunate to have been seated right away since it was a Saturday night and Exeter was busy! My server, a friendly and outgoing woman whose name starts with a S, did a great job! I was there Saturday, July 6th at 7pm. I won't mention her full name because a few women I know have had unsolicited,"friends"on their online accounts. I ordered the haddock 🌮 s with tamari sprouts as a side. I had an unsweetened ice tea and was offered a choice of sweetener or lemon slices. I could see a little bit out the huge side window. I recommend this restaurant. Wifi available. Update: Labor day, 2019; I had dinner in the evening and my experience was not quite as good. My server was friendly and helpful, she even asked for ID when my card said ", Please ID". The food I ordered, the Tuscan chicken, tasted good. Only issue, the young girl who brought my food out did a "drive by" delivery of my food and the plate slid on the table with a bang. My server was not the same girl. Update: March, Wednesday 2020; I went in the evening and service was good. My server was pleasant and smiled often. I ordered the Turkey burger with house fries and my burger was cooked just right. Update: June, 2020; I had dinner on the deck overlooking the river. I made a reservation and wore my facemask inside. Outside, you were allowed to take it off. I had chicken wings with hickory barbeque sauce for an appetizer and grilled haddock sandwich with coleslaw and a pickle for dinner. Service was great! I had three servers wait on me. They had no problems processing my Groupon certificate. I saw birds that I couldn't identify playing on the rocks in the river. I saw a bird I have never seen before fly by at eye level from where I was sitting. I recommend a visit! Update: Wednesday, September, 2020; Went early for dinner. Seated outside in the same chair as my last visit. Drought has caused river's water level to drop, but, the leaves are changing color. I ordered the Maine Blueberry Barbecue Wings, very tasty. I had the Californian Turkey 🦃 Baguette 🥖 without bacon 🥓. Well prepared, but, it needs something to give it more pizzazz. My side of cole slaw tasted good, but, was small in portion. Service was good. Update: Saturday evening, November 2020; Seated away without a reservation. Service was slow at first but picked up after I ordered. I had the chicken 🐔 quesadilla as an appetizer and the Sea Dog Deluxe Burger 🍔 with fries for dinner. Both were average in taste, but, I enjoyed eating them. Multiple servers checked on me. I ordered hot tea 🍵 and they had multiple flavors. I had a lemon 🍋 flavored tea 🍵 that was good. Facemasks still required. Update: Wednesday evening 🌆, February 2021; Plexiglass installed between booths. I had Haddock chowder and Mediterranean Steak 🥩 and Avacado Salad for dinner 🍲 with hot tea 🍵. Flour less chocolate cake for dessert. All were good. My main server was the bartender. Her name starts with a K and she greets everyone as "Friend". Two people came in and called her out by name before she could greet them. She was patient with everyone, especially myself with my indecisiveness since I was so hungry everything looked good. Try to get a window seat 🪑. The view of the...

10/19/2024 I don’t normally do this but the bartender there tonight was just a hot mess. We went to the Sea Dog in Exeter, for the first time ever and sat at the bar for 10 minutes completely unnoticed. The bartender was not around at all. We waited and when she finally showed she greeted and served “regular” customers that she knew AND greeted and served 2 customers who were quite obviously family members to the left of the bar seated at a table. Mind you, both these couples arrived after us. So we waited, contemplated leaving as she passed by us numerous times, avoiding eye contact and complaining about how her night was going to her co-workers. We were going to leave but then finally said something to her to make her aware of our presence. Finally got served our drinks and ordered appetizers to start which was good. But due to the ongoing disregard by this waitress, not only to us but also to other patrons we decided to leave without having dinner which was what we intended. After we were served she kept going over to her family members chatting with them on several occasions with her back turned to the bar. At the other end of the bar a man came and sat down that she NEVER noticed as she was too busy talking to her family. This man ended up LEAVING, which we had contemplated ourselves. This girl had no clue of who was around at any given moment and other patrons were also not served timely as well…. with exception to a co-worker bartender who was there as a patron, who I think she referred to as Chris. We had seen enough and decided to leave without dinner. We mentioned our disappointment to the hostess to which she offered us a gift card which we declined as we had no intention of returning. The hostess at least was nice and seemed to care about our concerns. The appetizers we ordered were good, but because the bartender, Jayda, (not sure of proper spelling) was so out in left field we left and went to dinner at Logan’s Run in Hampton where we were greeted before even sitting down and had a great meal! I hope they can turn this place around before they lose more patrons and business. The food may be great, not sure as we only got appetizers, but getting the right staff/bartenders in there would make a world of difference for business. Sorry but won’t be returning, as I’m sure the other guy who left after never getting greeted...

Sea Dog Brewing in Exeter, NH for a couple pints & a good burger. It had been a hot minute since I was here in late 2022, but I saw there was a couple new beers on draft I hadn't had so I thought it'd be a good time to return. This Exeter spot is one of eight different locations with most of them in Maine, another in New Hampshire & one in Florida. I didn't realize they had such a reach with all those taprooms until I was doing a little research on the website. One of my favorites from them I'll always grab when I see it in the wild is the BLUE PAW WILD BLUEBERRY Fruited Wheat which is always refreshing especially during summertime. 🍻🍺🔥☘

My first pint was the SEA DOG SUMMER ALE Pale Wheat which was delicious & a above average wheat beer. My second pint was the SEA DOG ISLAND LIGHT LAGER that was good, but nothing out of this world. I was hoping for more than just two new beers to try, but they don't release a lot of new beers & mostly stick to their staples it seems. The SEA DOG SUMMER ALE was the winner here, I grabbed a couple pints of it during this trip. 🍻🍻🍺🔥💪

The Bacon Bleu Stacker burger I scooped was delicious & a perfect companion to go with the light beers I grabbed. All the usual seating options here including a pretty decent size bar, tables, booths & hightops. My friends & I got there for opening on a Sunday & the place filled up within a half hour. Our service was good, but I forgot to get the servers name unfortunately. Plenty of to go cans here to take home for personal consumption or a tasting with friends. All & all a good visit, but with the lack of new beers coming out it'll probably be another few years before I make the visit again. 🍻🍺🔥☘✌♥️🍺

I visited Sea Dog for the first time with friends for my husband's birthday celebration. The location, right on the river in downtown Exeter was perfect. Given the fine weather, we sat on their multi-tiered deck to enjoy spectacular views of herons and seagulls dining on rainbow trout. Our server was phenomenal and checked in on us throughout the meal. While Sea Dog is well known for their beer, the cocktails are beautiful, tasty, and most importantly, strong! None of us had any complaints in the drink department. The menu is extensive and offers a variety of salads, sandwiches, and other pub fare. We feasted on burgers, tenders, steak poutine, and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, the buffalo chicken was a miss. My favorite item on their menu was the mac and cheese side. Creamy, salty, and perfectly cheesy. Overall, I would recommend Sea Dog for their cocktails and to enjoy the New England weather on the deck.
