Run, don’t walk to get yourself an empanada (or 5)! If you want to support a local family business, this is the place. If you want a relaxed, happy, friendly atmosphere, GR’s is for you. If you are hungry and want a satisfying and healthy option that is made with fresh ingredients and baked fresh every single day, stop at GR’s! Whether you want to sit inside the cozy sitting area or grab and go, you won’t be disappointed. I love how they have weekly specials but keep some regulars on the menu so are guaranteed to find a delicious favorite each time you stop by. I can’t say enough good things about these empeñadas. I wish I lived here so I could get them weekly!!! I ate one of each (except the Diablo because I’m a baby when it comes to spice) and I thought they were all delicious and couldn’t pick a favorite. I was pleasantly surprised by the banana one because I usually don’t like banana desserts. 100/10...
Read moreThe owners are very big-hearted kind folks who pour a lot into their empanadas. They stock their "classics" and then throw in weekly specials that range in flavor. I believe the dough is one flavor, slightly on the sweeter side which works with a majorty of their flavor combinations. Only once did i have a flavor combo where i wish the dough was on the neutral or savory side. They generally have savory flavors (OG, cheeseburger, Diablo, etc) they every so often will have a sweet one. They have a signature sauce that is light and creamy that pairs well with all the savory flavors. Even though they have limited "bar" seating, i would consider this takeout only. The empanadas are a little on the pricey end, but I don't mind that. If you want a break from your regular meal or snack, try this local Bolivian empanadas shop....
Read moreIt may not look like much from the outside, but when you step inside, it's another world. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. It's very clear that they have put all their heart and soul into everything here, from the layout of the space, the decor, the upkeep, the presentation, and, of course, the empanadas.
They're Bloivian style, so more savory pastry like than the thinner, crispy, deep-fried empanads I am used to. But damn were they good! And they were served with a bright herbal sauce that took me somewhere deep in the receses of my early memories.
Oh, and they have Mexican Coke! But I got their incredible homemade huckleberry...
