More than one staff member welcomed me upon entry. We were seated quickly. Service was on top of the game. They're a well oiled machine in there. The restaurant was about filled during the whole time I was there, but the environment was not a stressfull one. Although it still was a little loud at times. There also is only single persom restrooms just so you know. I attempted to look at the menu ahead of time, but looking at it on mobile was difficult. Maybe it is better on desktop. Because I took a long time to pick my order, I was approached a normal 3-4 times for the amount of time I spent (I really did take a long time), but I noticed the server many times appearoung around the corner of the booth to check on us many more times than he approached us which I appreciated. The complimentary salsa is a 9/10. Unique, not too liquidy, seasoned well and cilantro flavor is present. I ended up with extra to-go. I ordered one beef tongue street taco and my entree was a #111 Pork Burrito (I dont recall what category it was under, but it's in the back of the menu). The beef tongue street taco is a 10/10. First time with tongue, and I want more NOW. I actually felt decently filled off that one taco...wish I had more NOW. the Pork burrito was good. I forgot that I dont't ever order pork from mexican places because it's usually shredded, and it's usually dry. Shredded meats at restaurants are usually dry unless it is a meat-focused establishment that has time to cook it slow. BUT I will say, despite it's dryness, it was still a unique shredded pork that tasted pleasant. Everything else about the burrito is good. The fact that I still look forward to eating is as a leftover is positive. I would certainly revisit, in hopes to try their chorizo. On the way out I was given a farewell by FOUR staff members. I didn't even interact with two of them while I was there, so it...
Read moreI can't promise I'll never give them business again (because my boss loves this place), but, I paid $18 for chicken, shrimp and peppers/onions meal (along with pineapple). Flavor was good... but, after picking off an entire field's pepper harvest off my plate, I noticed that there was chicken there after all. Although it was cut to about a 1/4" to maybe 3/8" which is the thinnest cut of chicken I've EVER seen. And, along with the measly four to five pieces of shrimp they gave me, it was served up with a side dish of beans, rice, and regret.
Also, right off the bat along with ordering my drink, I asked for queso fondido (queso with chorizo). After a LONG wait, the queso came with no chorizo to be found within. So, I ask kindly request from the waiter for some chorizo to put in the queso. What was the result of that request? Someone comes out and lays another dish of queso now WITH the chorizo in it. I gently told the waiter, "Hey, sorry sir... I'd asked for a side of chorizo to just add to in my queso." And he quickly quiped, "Oh, no, we don't sell JUST the chorizo," and he walks off.
So then I get charged for both dishes of queso!!!!! This review would be zero stars, but the food that did go into my mouth was decent (this is not congratulatory). I surely didn't expect to go to lunch spending $47 after a fair, 20% tip of $8. What I did receive was sub-par service, I got overcharged, and was given a main dish with 85% peppers and onions and I had some rice and a spoon full of queso to take home as leftovers for again, $47.
In all honesty, their half sweet, half unsweet was really good... so there's that small win I guess if I'm traveling by and want a refreshing beverage.
Skip this establishment and go to El Riacho (not affiliated, but, they're...
Read moreI took my two children out for dinner tonight, and chose LaBade because I had been once previously with a good experience.
My only complaint I have is the dinning room is very noisy. I'm happy for a busy restaurant, but the materials of the space cause almost an echo loud enough that it was not easy to hear one another. Other than that, it was a clean, nice space.
Now the food. We started with the standard complimentary chips & salsa, and then ordered the table side guacamole. Salsa was fresh and had great flavor, but need a bit of salt to bring the flavor out best. The star was the guacamole. Fresh pico mashed with avocado makes the best tasting guacamole! It had great lime flavor as well. My son had never been willing to try guac before, but this one enticed him and he enjoyed it.
Gor entrées I ordered the pollo la crema, my oldest child had 3 fish tacos, and my son had shredded beef chimicanga's. They both enjoyed their meals and the portions were large enough to have leftovers.
My chicken was delicious as well. It was very well seasoned and juicy. It was topped with grilled peppers and onions, and poblano cream sauce. I picked black beans and side salad as my sides. The black beans were more like black bean soup, but good. I used the side salad to top my chicken. Would definitely order again, except they have many dishes that looked good, so it might have to wait.
Lastly, our server was wonderful. I had mentioned I would also have a to-go order to put in at the end of the meal. Then I got so busy chatting with the kids, I had forgotten about it. When I asked for boxes for our leftovers, our server kindly reminded me of my previous statement and asked for the order. Very...
