Would like to give NO stars. We decided to go eat here for a few reasons. To support local. My parents and grandma do not want to go anywhere really this was literally their second outing since covid shut down began. It was close. And my parents and grandma like the place. I've never had an issue with the food. We decided to go at 4pm to avoid the rush. When we walked in, no one visible we were only customers. We were a family of 7 tonight. The floors were not swept and the table that was big enough for our family wasn't clean. The waitress was already confused by our drink orders. My mom said diet dew and she repeated it back as diet Coke. I knew that's not what she wanted so had to get them to select something else. She brought our drink orders. The menu said all fried seafood comes with onion rings. So assuming that was the side 5 of the 7 of us order the same thing. I ordered the Wednesday special MANicotti. My husband ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich. (Later we will find out that the shrimp meal that my 5 family members ordered should have come with a soup or salad and that my husbands sandwich comes with fries) While we were waiting she came and asked my husband if he was talking about the sandwich. He said yes. The waitress brought out order only mine was a Monte Cristo sandwich as well. When I told her my order was wrong she was confused and kept calling it the Montecotti. I can almost bet she was telling the cook Montecotti and where she was verifying the sandwich with my husband she should have been asking me. She was confused. Food was good, that is usually not an issue. Check came out and all 5 people had been charged for onion rings and I was charged for the sandwich AND the manicotti. We asked the waitress about it and she said well the menu said 2 onion rings come with it. We were baffled, so I go grab a menu. Sure enough it does say soup or salad and 2 vegetables (non of which we got) it also says all seafood comes with onion rings no amount. We try to explain this to assuming manager and cashier and she says that that's not what that means she said that we were supposed to get salad. The waitress now is at the front verifying that one of the sandwiches need taken off and she apologizes for everything she said it was only her 3rd week and she was by herself tonight. I told her I'm sorry that she was by herself she probably not trained all the way. I won't go back for the simple reason that the waitress made a mistake and the manager wouldn't fix it. I am no way mad or upset with the waitress she was thrown into this situation. Had she had the proper training she would have said when we said that the onion rings were fine that it would be an extra charge instead of the salad. The manager never apologized and didn't even try to make it right. We paid it and confirmed that the waitress would be getting the whole tip and tipped nicely. We left and...
Read moreUp until this morning, the Fairborn Family Diner & Restaurant would have gotten five stars from me. It had become a ritual for my daughter and I to visit on the weekends, grab our familiar corner booth and enjoy the great service and great breakfasts at great prices.
I still would give the food and the wait staff a FULL FIVE STARS, but I won't be going back and I lay all of the responsibility at the feet of the manager.
On this last visit just this morning, we arrived closer to lunch time. The place was hopping and that was fine.... we weren't in any hurry. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, and while it doesn't compare to the REAL Philly Cheese Steaks, it was good. It was hot. It was flavorful. I ate the first half with gusto and was ready to dig into the second half when there it was, a hair on my plate, under the second half of the sandwich. ACK!
I didn't make a scene, I didn't even really complain. When our server came to ask if everything was alright, I pointed to the hair, she whisked the plate away and showed it to the manager. There was a brief huddle of her, the manager and a couple of other staff before she returned to the table and said, "She'll adjust your bill at the register."
I left a tip on the entire amount of the check, and a rather hefty tip. at that. Servers work hard and it wasn't her fault. Unfortunately, when I got to the register I was sorely disappointed to learn that the manager wasn't about to 'comp' my meal, at least not all of it. She only took off half.... no, not half of the bill... she only took off the half of the sandwich that I didn't eat.
I was too shocked, too disappointed and too disgusted to argue with her. I paid the bill and left. I will be going back.... but only to say goodbye to the great gals who I've come to call friends. Not to...
Read moreVery poor service! Ordered liver n onions w/ mash potatoes. Liver was very tough and no mash potatoes came out with meal. They took back the meal and I asked to replace the meat for fish and bring the mash potatoes. I was brought out a fish meals w/fries. When I received my bill they had up charge me for all you can eat fish, which I only ate the 2 pcs. -brought out on my plate. I didn’t want to complain again, I had fries in stead of mask potatoes so I ate a few fries. When I complained about the up charge to my bill. The lady told me they made it right they took back the liver meal and replaced it with fish meal and I was charged for what I ordered. So then I tried to explain all the other confusion. No potatoes came out with liver, I only wanted the 2 pieces of fish to replace the liver, I got no mash potatoes fries instead and was offered no refills. At least you can discount the food by charging me for the cheaper meal. She refused, saying by taking the food back they made it right…. Playing dumb. Family has ate here many of times this has been the worst service and food.
And… it was very warm in diner, waitress said the AC was not broken, it just doesn’t do well on hot days.
And The family member that was with me ordered white fish and they brought out catfish. She said it was fine she would eat it. We tried to be kind And not complain but things...
