For a while I was waiting for an Arab/brown coffee shop to open in Fairfax. Haraz’s opening was personally very exciting for me! And while Haraz’s atmosphere is nice and the drinks are decent, still my family has come here almost everyday since its opening.
On Friday, May 23, I brought my family to Haraz for a treat for the long weekend. I ordered a handful of drinks and desserts, but upon receipt of the drinks, I realized they defaulted to the 12 oz size. I kindly asked them to change my 12 oz drinks to 16 oz since I was treating my family, and I will pay the difference. The young lady behind the counter said no problem, it’s a 30 cent difference, we’ll make you new drinks and bring them to your table.
Thirty minutes later, no drinks, so I went to the barista and showed them my receipt. They were in the process of making the last drink to 16 oz. At that time, the owner or manager, Laila, intervened and made the whole situation turn upside down. I told her I’d pay the difference, but she got mad that she had three drinks left over and began making a scene about the economy. I explained to her that I made an honest mistake due to the loud and rushed nature of the shop, I didn’t realize my drinks were 12 oz, I offered to pay the difference, but she would not heed to my point of view. She said she wouldn’t make me a 16 oz green tea because it’s wasting her money, that I HAD to take the 12 oz drink. Holy cow, what a nightmare! We spent over $100 in one sitting and left so embarrassed and unsatisfied. My grandma got her tea as we were leaving. Laila, if you read this, you know who I am, you can see the photo, your behavior was uncalled for. In Arab, Middle Eastern, and South Asian culture, hospitality is incumbent upon us; part of our culture and our deen. Your behavior was unacceptable, you made me very uncomfortable and I can tell you were having an off day. I understand we’re human and deal with various personal issues, but it’s not the customers responsibility to deal with your mood swings.
Other than that, the rest of the staff were fine. The gentlemen serving the drinks to the table are kind and courteous, maybe Laila needs to learn a thing or two from her crew. As a leader, she’s lacking the skills to manage the...
Read moreDuring my last visit, I found the establishment quite crowded, so I returned on a weekday afternoon. This time, I was fortunate enough to secure a table. The spacious, clean, and modern ambiance creates a pleasant environment. The service was commendable, with staff efficiently delivering orders to the table, which is a refreshing change from typical self-service places that still expect a tip.
I had the opportunity to try the pistachio latte, which was rich and creamy with just a hint of spice—well-balanced and not overwhelming. The Bee Bites, featuring light bread drizzled with honey, also served as a delightful treat that paired beautifully with the bold flavors of the pistachio latte. There were also several other desserts on display, and I am looking forward to returning to explore them further.
Update: July 20, 2025 During our recent visit, we tried some of their impressive treats and highly recommend them. The Strawberry Matcha Latte was a surprisingly delicious combination, creating a refreshing and flavorful beverage. The Salted Caramel Latte showcased the perfect balance of subtle sweetness and saltiness, crafted with espresso. The Pistachio Cheesecake was rich and creamy, elevated by a luscious pistachio cream. The White Chocolate Mosaic Cake was a delightful sweet treat, featuring a dense, pudding-like texture that paired beautifully...
Read moreWriting a review after several visits. This place is poorly managed. Cashiers are nice enough but the owner is exceedingly rude. However, there is almost always something off about the drinks, both coffee and chai. The mufawar I had today was disgusting. Everything is quite overpriced. People may say you also have to pay for the ambience, then the ambience should be perfect. There are always no less than 6 employees just standing around behind the counter and I have never seen a single employee wipe down any tables between patrons. Today, we went quite early and the place was overrun with the small flies that are usually around due to filthy garbage cans. The owners were just sitting on one of the tables lounging/eating/drinking and zero interaction with customers or concern about what’s going on. Seems like they just take it for granted that customers will always be around in this area.
This location makes the disparity between franchisee owned businesses glaringly obvious. Ownership and management makes a huge difference. I visited a Haraz location in Dallas and the difference was night and day. There were two employees present and the entire cafe was spotlessly clean, great service, delicious and...
