Okay, first and foremost the thing with the little boxes is awkward. Don't put your customers in a position where they feel uncomfortable asking for a box. Raise prices and charge me the extra dollar so I can take my dinner home. I get not allowing customers to take salad bar items home, but c'mon, my wife should be able to take her chicken and mashed potatoes home. Not only does this policy hurt the customers it hurts the employees as well, putting them in stupid situations because the owner can't make a good customer service decision.
If u can't let go of the silly little box policy at least make your waitresses explain it to every customer when they sit down. Then at least there won't be the awkwardness when customers look at the little box and the big plate of food that remains if you fill up on the salad bar.
Now that that's out of the way let me say the food was very good to excellent and the three stars are for the food. The soups were hearty and tasted fresh and the salad bar was wonderful with many fresh and tasty items. I would say the pastries were the beat I've had in a while. They've definitely got some good cooks working here.
The customer service needed some fine tuning, I had to ask for a refill when my glass was clearly empty when I was still eating and the waitress asked me if I needed anything.. Just ask to refill the drink and serve the customer and it'll do wonders for ur tips. U don't want the customer debating how much to tip when the service was subpar.
Bottom line - food A+, service - C,...
Read moreHaven't been there for awhile but glad we stopped. While alot of the specials were appealing, I opted for the soup and salad bar. The salad bar has a nice variety and while I was fixin' up my plate, along comes an employee to change out the serving spoons and tongs "in case they are sticky or need changed out" - very nice ! It was clean. Their salad bar also has some sweet treats available if you need some simple carbs, too ! There were two soup selections. I had the vegetable which was tasty. My hubby had the Dutch Boy sandwich - a pretty good-sized ham/cheese/lettuce/tomato/and horsey sauce all stacked on a nice bun. He said it was very filling and enjoyable and would order it again. We decided a piece of pie was in order and we chose to share a slice of the Dutch Pumpkin with whipped cream florets. Oh, my! Delicious! The servers were extremely friendly and accommodating, keeping the coffee cups filled and stopping to ask if we needed any more water or anything else. On the way out or way in, however one chooses to look at it, there is a bakery on one side(ck out the fashion doll birthday cakes to be ordered, of course! that most young girls would like) and added fridges so there is no problem picking up some cold food to be heated up later. Across the aisle from the bakery, there is a nice selection of special gifts and treats and there is something for everyone! And, if you feel like shopping more and walking all that good food off, there are shops located behind the restaurant. All in all,...
Read moreMy first visit/lunch to Das Dutch Haus Restaurant. My wife has visited with friends and family yearly for multiple years. The bakery arouma excites your taste buds as soon as you enter. The atmosphere is relaxing and Das Dutch influences from the floor to the ceiling. When you enter the building it is through the gift shop and bakery department.
Our lunch was great and the service was first class. Our next visit will be in the morning to try the breakfast bar. There was a lunch buffet that was reasonably priced, however, I would need to sample everything and we had a tight schedule to keep. We had soup and sandwiches and passed on the delicious looking desserts.
The bakery has everything your sweet tooth desires. We purchased our desserts during checkout. The cinnamon and maple rolls were delicious. Fresh baked bread and meal entrees are available to go also. There was a lot of bake shop traffic and to go pastries and the pies looked delicious.
Many of the items in the gift shop looked hand made and I will make time to investigate the large selection when we return in the near future. I saw a few of the embroidered hand towels my wife has purchased in prior visits. We bike ride around the local lake and I will include Das Dutch Haus Restaurant as our refueling stop on our next ride.
I apologize for the closed pastry box photo. I wanted to show the tasty cinnamon rolls that mysteserley disappeared while I was...
