Handel's Homemade Ice Cream Columbiana — Restaurant in Fairfield Township

I drive 25 minutes there and back for a hot apple dumpling. I wanted the ice cream on the side and they REFUSED to accommodate that! When I arrived, I asked for two Hot Apple Dumplings to go. I asked that they not be heated up, since I had quite the drive. I was then greeted by an older man who I assume is the manager who starts rambling on about how “other people take them home and don’t heat them up right so we can’t do that because you’ll probably call and complain.” So then I said “wow you’re kidding!” As a joke to which he says “do you think I’d waste my time talking to you about it if I was kidding.” I then ask if I could just have the ice cream on the side. He says “no we absolutely cannot give you the ice cream on the side. The dumpling needs heated up and we HAVE to sell it with the ice cream on top.” I explain I drove an hour for this and he basically said he didn’t care. I can understand not wanting to sell me a cold apple dumpling, but the fact that he REFUSED to put the ice cream on the side was insane. He was beyond rude and disrespectful. I requested to call a manger or corporate to which he put in a complaint for “unhappy customer.” I asked for empty bowls and proceeded to remove the ice cream myself for the drive, but it had all melted. I had an issue with the customer service today. I'm from out of town and my family raved about Handel's ice cream. We were planning on taking the ice cream to eat at home. As I was the driver I needed to put my ice cream in a cup holder. I asked for a to go bowl or some form of cup instead so it would not overflow when the ice cream melted. I was told they only use bowls. I asked if they could put it in a milkshake cup. The cashier closed the window, talked to someone else, and then said no we dont do that. I offered to pay for the cup but she still refused. I was very concerned why keeping a single cup was more important than the convenience of the customer. Extremely long wait time. This is the worst location that I have ever been to. There were four girls inside but only two working. The one girl was leaning on a cooler with her arms folded and was doing nothing. The girl in the pink shirt kept going to the back room to vape. I saw this when I was on the side of the building while walking back to my car. It took the girl seven (7) minutes to scoop a quart of ice cream. It was so slow that people were leaving. If this location doesn't make it through the COVID-19 pandemic it won't be because of a lack of customers. It will be due to inefficient people working.
