I was so happy to stumble upon GRK Grill as it’s right around the corner from my home which makes it super convenient! I have become a lover of really good Greek food after being introduced to it while living in Astoria some time ago but have struggled to find authentic and super tasty options since moving to CT. I don’t know what made me look over at that moment as I was driving to the grocery store but whatever it was, it made me see the Greek Food sign and I thought why not give it a try on my way back from the store. When I went in, I was pleased to find a very cute dining room and then the counter to order takeout/ pick up. Like most GOOD Greek restaurants, it’s a family run place where I enjoyed the next 30 minutes talking about the food and the likes/dislikes of my son compared to the owners wife grown son who was also part of the conversation. They let me try all the different gyro meats they offer, chicken, lamb, beef & pork gyros!!! They were all delicious (and I’m not a lamb fan typically). I settled on a chicken gyro and a chicken souvlaki and took it home for my son and I. To my surprise, my son LOVED the Tzatziki sauce(I had them put it on the side in case) but now I have had the fortune of ordering food from them at least a dozen times since we found them a few weeks ago. I would love to go and eat there in the dining room and get more adventurous with my food choices… something tells me you can’t go wrong with whatever you decide because everything is made fresh to order and it is obviously made with a...
Read moreMenu looks good with authentic dishes. First day I ordered a lamb gyro with fries and avgolemono soup. Gyro was great. Soup had great flavor but a lot of rice. Stopped on my way home again and without looking at the menu ordered a Greek salad with lamb gyro meat. $16.50 seemed like a lot but ok. I was shocked when I opened it at home to see one entire cucumber and one whole tomato cut up, a big piece of feta, 4 strips of meat and vinaigrette. No lettuce, grape leaves or tzatziki. My fault for not looking at the menu first but I was surprised at some of the prices when I did look. I'm very familiar with the food having been raised in a Greek church and I'm just glad someone opened a Greek place after the others in Fairfield closed. The lamb gyro meat is excellent though and I'll be going back for more but...
Read moreInteresting little cozy space. Friendly waitress. Did not leave hungry that's for sure. Don't reccomend the "plates" though as they come with just slivers of pitas so you can't really do much with them. The "plates" are nothing more than just deconstructed gyros or whatever you would order otherwise. Also, if you like onions, you'll love this place! Guys, easy on the onions please! The salad was literally covered in onions! Desserts were really good. A bit pricey maybe...$60+ for the two of us though. We had 2 apps, 2 plates and 2 desserts. Again, we did not leave hungry but for that much money, give me a real table cloth not a plastic sheet and paper napkins. Would go back again and try...
