When I visited SHUMI Revolving Sushi, I was immediately drawn to their all-you-can-eat option and the authentic Japanese conveyor belt sushi experience. Being one of the very few places with a conveyor belt in the region, it was excited and encouraged to try new sushi options due to the excellent variety. The high quality of fresh fish, fruits, and other ingredients was notable. The restaurant's atmosphere was inviting with pleasant decorations and authentic Japanese aesthetics, heightening my dining immersion. The provision of complimentary soft drinks and the thoughtful touch of serving fruit at the end made the slightly high price tag seem more reasonable. However, there were a few disappointments. The rice was bland and crushed, necessitating a dose of soy sauce to become palatable. The absence of the right amount of salt and vinegar in the rice was a noticeable shortcoming, detracting from the overall experience. The pickled ginger also lacked taste and felt stale. And while there were instances of beautifully presented dishes whisking past us on the belt, most of the plates appeared hastily prepared, with toppings seemingly added in a rush, leading to a uniform, less appealing color. In terms of improvements, I would suggest adding hygiene covers for plates on the conveyor belt, a common practice in Asia, and introducing authentic Japanese desserts to the offerings. These enhancements would further justify the price point and enrich the dining experience. Despite the bland rice and presentation shortcomings, SHUMI Revolving Sushi holds potential for a captivating culinary adventure. With some improvements, it could ascend to a real dining delight.

After waiting a year to try it, we stopped for dinner before a road trip. It was already late and noone else was there. The inside was bright, clean and cheerful. The new owner (they took over 2 months ago I learned) introduced us to their 3 menus. Because I am on a low carb diet, I didn't think I could eat much...so the "best"menu which was all you can eat for a fixed price of $34.95 with many choices, was off for me. The revolving menu..things on small plates that looked quite appetizing and fresh were moving past us on the tiny conveyor belt. My friend, who said she had been to one in California, said she liked how they did it here because the plates were covered with see through covers. Everything was fastidious. We were given ice water with infused lemon, then selected from the 3rd a la carte menu, as in a traditional sushi place. The avocado salad, was mostly avocado, over a bed of greens with a not overly sweet dressing. The sushi and sashimi and condiments were all fresh, and of good quality and quantity. Since we were driving and it was already past dinner hour, no alcohol was consumed. Will definitely go back again.

Shumi is the house of the revolving sushi. If you've never had revolving sunshine, it's a pretty neat concept. Chefs make different dishes and place it on a conveyor belt that snakes around the restaurant. If it looks appealing to you, pick it up place it on your table and eat it. Plates are small enough that if you select something that you don't like, it's not a major commitment. Price is approximately $35 for all you can eat M-Th. F, SA and Su it's $40. Lunch M-F is $26. Kids under 12 pay half price. The best thing about Shumi is there is usually something for everyone. My son like avocado rolls and dumplings and they almost always come around on the belt. Should you want something other than what's on the belt, you can always order it directly from the staff. Made to order sushi is expensive, so it's not hard to get value out of Shumi. Fish is fresh and professionally sliced.

Shumi, located in Fairfield, Connecticut, is a revolving dumpling restaurant that stands out as one of the most unique and enjoyable dining spots in town. Perfect for families, this kid-friendly gem offers a playful atmosphere where everyone can feel welcome. The restaurant’s revolving table setup is a huge hit, especially with kids, adding a fun, interactive element to the dining experience that keeps everyone entertained. Shumi is not only great for casual dinners but also ideal for special occasions, particularly birthdays, as the lively ambiance and accommodating staff make celebrations truly memorable.

The food at Shumi is simply outstanding. Their dumplings are the main attraction, and they do not disappoint. With a wide variety of fillings, from savory pork and vegetable to more adventurous options like spicy seafood, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The quality is top-notch, with each dumpling perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu is a must-try, featuring the real showstopper: fried Oreos. These are everything you could want in a treat—crispy, golden-brown on the outside, and warm and gooey on the inside. They’re indulgent in the best way possible and the perfect ending to a meal that’s sure to leave you smiling.

One of the best things about Shumi is that it’s also very affordable. In a time when dining out can often break the bank, Shumi offers a delicious and memorable experience at a price that won’t hurt your wallet. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the value you get is exceptional. This makes it an excellent choice for families or larger groups looking to enjoy a quality meal without overspending.

What truly elevates Shumi from being just another restaurant is its amazing service. The staff goes out of their way to ensure every guest has a great time, and no one does this better than Ling, their star server. Ling is friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, always ready to recommend the best dishes to suit your preferences. Ling’s warm personality and genuine care for the customers make the dining experience even more enjoyable. If it’s your first visit, definitely ask for Ling—she’ll make you feel like a VIP!

Shumi is also a great option for families with young kids. The revolving table concept is a novelty that keeps children entertained while they wait for their food, and the kid-friendly menu options ensure that even picky eaters will find something to love. The lively yet relaxed atmosphere makes it easy for families to enjoy their meal without feeling rushed or out of place.

Overall, Shumi in Fairfield is a must-visit for anyone looking for a fun, affordable, and delicious dining experience. My server was Lin he was amazing. So cool and very funny.

Shumi is a revolving sushi restaurant that offers a unique and delightful dining experience. Located in a bustling part of town, Shumi stands out not just for its fresh and delicious sushi but also for its engaging and interactive dining concept. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a modern, sleek interior that exudes a sense of sophistication and comfort.

The first thing that catches your eye is the conveyor belt running through the center of the restaurant, carrying an array of colorful sushi plates. This revolving sushi concept allows diners to pick and choose their favorite dishes as they pass by, making the dining experience both fun and convenient. The variety is impressive, with options ranging from classic nigiri and sashimi to more inventive rolls and fusion dishes. Each plate is a small work of art, meticulously prepared and beautifully presented.

One of the standout features of Shumi is the quality of the ingredients. The fish is incredibly fresh, sourced daily to ensure that every bite is bursting with flavor. The rice is perfectly seasoned and cooked to the right consistency, complementing the fish without overpowering it. The chefs at Shumi clearly take pride in their craft, as evidenced by the attention to detail in every dish. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or a newcomer to Japanese cuisine, you’re sure to find something that tantalizes your taste buds.

In addition to the sushi, Shumi offers a selection of hot dishes and appetizers that are equally impressive. The tempura is light and crispy, the miso soup is rich and comforting, and the gyoza are perfectly pan-fried with a juicy filling. The menu also includes a variety of vegetarian options, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

The service at Shumi is top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They’re always ready to offer recommendations or explain the different types of sushi to those who might be unfamiliar. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The restaurant is also very clean and well-maintained, which adds to the overall positive experience.

One of the unique aspects of Shumi is the pricing system. Each plate is color-coded, with different colors corresponding to different price points. This makes it easy to keep track of your spending and ensures that there are options for every budget. Despite the high quality of the food, the prices are very reasonable, offering great value for money.

Overall, Shumi is a fantastic revolving sushi restaurant that delivers on all fronts. The combination of fresh, high-quality ingredients, skilled preparation, and a fun, interactive dining experience makes it a standout in the crowded sushi market. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi lover or just looking to try something new, Shumi is definitely worth a visit. The charm and charisma of the place are undeniable, making it a spot you’ll want to...

I really like the idea of revolving sushi but it just doesn't work here. There's only one single track so if you're sitting ahead of an inconsiderate group you will never get any of the 'good stuff' and are instead left with an onslaught of dishes that no one wants. (Cheese covered mussels and seaweed salad usually) The sushi chefs that place the dishes onto the conveyer belt do sometimes take inconsiderate groups into account and place dishes ahead of them, but out of the three times I've visited, I've only seen this happen once. The most recent time I visited we almost left early out of frustration when the conveyer belts remained empty for an entire HOUR after we arrived just to have to resort to ordering when the group behind us took EVERY plate.

As a result I found myself just ordering what I wanted off of the menu. The quality of the food is pretty typical for all you can eat sushi but the price for weekends and dinner time is absolutely too high. I'd much rather drive 20 mins to Orange to another all you can eat place that's both cheaper and has better service.

Speaking of service, the servers are great and very friendly, however Shumi lacks a streamlined ordering system like other all you can eat places have. It seems like the option to order what you want was tacked onto the experience once people discovered that the conveyer belt was a gimmick. Most all you can eat places will have sheets where you can fill out what you want to order, but here you order off of a laminated menu directly to your server. We only ordered maybe 4 times and every time there were missing items.

Unfortunately Shumi does not hold a candle to the revolving sushi places we've all seen online in Japan, and unfortunately, such a concept might just not be possible in the United States. I've eaten here three times now and while the experience has been mostly pleasant, the high prices and subpar service make it hard to justify coming in. Their weekday lunch prices aren't too bad, but once again, I'd rather take the extra time to drive somewhere that doesn't rely so much on a gimmick.

P.S. Every time I've been here there have been a select few dishes that always end up revolving on the conveyer belt for hours untouched, especially the mussels covered in cheese. I think the chefs should be more attentive of this and remove them from the menu because after a certain point, seeing cold mussels covered in greasy congealed cheese pass by you over and over again is pretty gross. Especially when they put plastic covers over them to keep them 'fresh' longer. If you come in, sit down and see cheese covered mussels, don't touch them, chances are they've been slowly revolving around for the...
