I wasn’t going to complain or really address this issue because it just so extremely unacceptable and been bothering me as I tell my partner. Ordered some steak tips, medium rare. That’s a darker PINK to about 130. I cut into the steak and had a bite as I was holding a conversation then realized the texture was quite off. I cut into a few pieces. Dark purple through out. Assuming at the time they were I undercooked. Also would assume this restaurant doesn’t use a thermometer for QC. I really wanted to think the meat was not properly thawed if it was frozen (probably). Because towards the center, if it was not thawed correctly, would barely cook causing a purple hue and would continue to thaw throughout the searing process.
I think it’s important to know though that more than likely they are buying and selling to their customers “dark cut” sirloin (would be tragic if true). This is the absolute bottom dollar beef you can buy for a number or reasons including the extremely unappetizing color. (Do a little research on dark cut beef) It is significantly cheaper (about 80% cheaper than standard beef). I’m just trying to warn people here of a bad sirloin experience. I don’t go to franchise restaurants often and I understand the culture is different and standards are not quite as high. That being said still should be NO reason to be serving this quality of beef. I know it’s just sirloin tips but my opinion stands.
P.S. I firmly believe they microwaved it when I said it needed to be thrown back on for a bit longer. Came back no different! I just don’t understand what the kitchen was thinking. Also my waitress was great about it. Deducted the meal from the bill. That was awesome and I appreciate that.
-All this being said. I’ll go back and get sirloin tips again. I’m more curious if this is an unfortunate mistake with their supplier. Or some kind of manager cutting corners with out the concern of their customers because the majority of customers would not know there is something wrong. Most people are not ordering medium rare sirloin.
I will not post any photos with this review. The kitchen, the waitress, and the manager of that shift, along with any other staff that I didn’t interact with saw that beef.
This review is only opinion and not to be...
Read moreFall River 99 Restaurant USA hit or miss type of place. If you are not a Regular here I recommend sitting at a table rather than the bar. The bartender only seems to jump for the people she knows. Being at there beck and call. Me being a first timer here wasn’t impressive at all. I went to watch the Bruins Game here and sorry I did. It wasn’t busy being most people had left when I arrived and should have took this as a sign. She greeted me when I first sat down and asked what I was drinking? I ordered a Bud on tap, after waiting for a good ten minutes and still no drink I waited for her to come by and asked if I could get my drink now? She poured it and brought it over while asking if I would like to order any food? I decided on the Fresh Cod Special and waited on it. Sure enough time went on and I pretty much gave up on waiting. Just as I asked for the check she brought over my plate and asked if I was ok! I told her I was a little disappointed having to wait for my drink now my food she told me she had to take care of her regulars because that’s how she makes her living? Shocked as I was I just ate my food. I asked if they had bread? She told me they only have honey glazed biscuits, once again I hesitated ordering but did. Just as I was almost finished eating my biscuits arrived Hard, Cold and disappointed again I just asked for the check and left. I will not be eating at this place for a long time to come. The sad part is I go to the one in North Dartmouth, Mass and never had a bad experience like this location in Fall River, Mass. My advice is if you are in the mood for 99 Restaurants drive to the North Dartmouth, Mass location where you are sure to be greeted and treated as a customer should be no matter...
Read moreWaited at front desk for 10 minutes to be sat. Mind you the restaurant really wasn't all that busy. Then they asked us if we minded a table with a booth on one side and a chair on the other side. I was thinking he meant a booth near the bar with those high stools so we said no and we got seated. Turns out they meant the HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE table literally at the corner of the restaurant near the emergency exit and bathrooms. That wouldn't have been a problem if we had not walked by MULTIPLE empty clean tables on our walk over there. Also, neither of us are handicapped and needed to access that booth. No one walked over and asked us for drinks for a good 15 minutes. Our waitress who happened to be standing right beside us the entire time taking care of the table directly across from us had turned around to us mid conversation and said to us "sorry my name is ---- and I'll be your waitress today. I'll be right with you" and immediately turned back around and finished their conversation. She walked away with some dirty cups and literally didn't see her again for another 15 minutes. Me and my boyfriend have never saw this service before at this 99 restaurant as we have been coming here our whole lives. Yet the other night put such a bad taste in our mouth that we literally walked right out. We were there for a half an hour and didn't even receive any drinks or any type of service along with being put in the corner of the restaurant that was half empty. Will not be back to this one. Its alright at least Texas Roadhouse never...
