Barcelos Bakery — Restaurant in Fall River

This is one of the best, well the BEST Portuguese🇵🇹 bakeries in Fall River! I first came in before they remodeled it for Malassadas and was instantly hooked! The staff are ALWAYS friendly and great each customer with a smile! I was disappointed when I went to there only to find that they were closed for a remodel, but once they reopened their doors I fell in love! The remodel was beautiful! There are now many tables to sit at and enjoy your coffee and pastries. When ever I visit them there is always a line out the door, even tho they are busy the service is fast and they are always friendly. They have a HUGE selection of pastries, sandwiches, fresh breads, cakes, coffees, and so much more! I recently learned that Emeril Lagasse's first job was here and this is where it all started for him. I do not understand how any of the negative reviews are posted about this little gem! I think whoever has had something bad to say about this place is just trying to make the place look bad, I'm telling you, you be the judge of that and check them out for yourself! Trust me once you step foot in this bakery you will be a return customer for sure! They are one of if not the only bakeries that makes Malassadas everyday of the week! Everything is 100% made fresh everyday here, and everything is always made perfect! I've tried other bakeries that are popular among the Portuguese community here in Fall River and the quality of this bakeries good by far surpasses them all! My first time there was this morning and I could not believe the way a particular employee treated the woman in front of me. I walked in there was a gentleman and a woman of African decent in line. She had already placed an order for her breakfast sandwich. I was then called on by another sweet girl who took care of me. The gentleman left with his order. The then disgusting employee proceeded to go to the next 2 customers in line and yet the woman before me was still waiting for her sandwich to be wrapped it was done just needed to be wrapped and when the woman politely asked could you wrap my sandwich so I can go to work the disgusting employee went to the toaster grabbed the sandwich, angrily grabbed some foil and punched the sandwich with her fist before handing it to the customer. I'm rating the food with one star because I was so disgusted by the behavior I witnessed i couldn't bring myself to eat it. Enjoy your breakfast person standing on the corner. I have come here many times and have brought many business to this bakery. I have noticed the customer service has changed, and it is not due to Covid19! As of tonight, I was disrespected by the owners daughter by talking over me as I'm trying to explain my order and yet told me if i wanted it or not with an attitude! I find it as a PAYING CUSTOMER; there is no need to be rude or unprofessional. As of today, I will bring my business else where. I hope that this review gets noticed and i hope no one has to go through this. Remember your in business due to customers if it wasn't for customers you would not be in business!
