Today i felt defeated. I felt like a defeated mom 4 days before Christmas. I had an appointment for myself with Jocelyn who I had actually met by accident but I considered myself lucky because from the start I could tell she was a GEM! She listened to not only how any why I ended up in her chair that day but also what was important to me and my journey with self care because well I'm a almost 42 year old mom of a very rambunctious 6 year old who had put the family first per usual but forgot for a minute how important self care was. Fast forward to a few months later. It's a few weeks til my very boring roots only touch up trim. But my little girl had a huge knot/knots in her hair followed by many nights of arguing with her but also trying to teach her hygiene and self care. I called Jocelyn and said in so many words I'll give my daughter my hair appt on the 21st of December because we are in crisis mode. I was stressed. I had at this point cried and lost sleep over this situation going on with my daughters hair. On December 21st I got up I got thru the morning and we made it!! 8 minutes late but we made it. I felt better already but still very uneasy because I was embarrassed. She is our life. Her dad and I battled this together alone. We felt like we had failed her. She didn't want to cut her hair but it was terrible. We spent about 45 minutes there and both Ashley (the owner) and Jocelyn knew they could get it done for me but it was going to take hours in between clients because of the time of year and its Saturday! They were both very concerned and eagerly wanted to help me. Ashley made a phone call. Come to find out this was a neighbor who owns a Salon that specializes in different hair styles and techniques. On SATURDAY the 21st of December. Yep the Saturday before Christmas Ashley and Jocelyn sent me somewhere that they wholeheartedly thought would take care of this situation. I left there a little more relaxed but still faced with the task at hand. My daughter looked at me in the car and I told her "mommy has your back all day. We are not going home until we take care of you" To end thos super long review I wanted to express my gratitude so much because Ashleyband Jocelyn didn't just wish us well and send us on our way hoping all worked out. As I promised when leaving Exotic I had updated Jocelyn with a message letting her know that we were being well taken care of and we would be able to leave without chopping alot of inches off. We were taken care of like family. 3 hours later multiple trips for snacks 4 different seats 8 different positions this woman had the patience of a saint.and so did every other employee and client. As we were back king into the driveway my phone was ringing. It was Ashley. She wanted to know how we made out and most importantly what the outcome was with Mia. A whole load of emotions went running thru my body. She whole heartedly cared! She cared along with the dozen or so other ladies from our community who were there for me and had our backs this morning. This is the magic of Christmas!! This is the reason I continue to love the city i was born in. This is the reason Ive had a humble smile from ear to ear since they all pulled together as a community to make sure my baby was taken care of! Thank you Jocelyn and Ashley! Exotic will be my new spot when I need self care which didn't change because of this morning but the feeling i get when I walk in will always feel...
Read moreWow.. where do we even start! Let’s just say, I booked a surprise appointment for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday and both Kayla (our hairstylist) and Ashley (the owner) were in the shop. Their energy was outstanding bright and early at 9 AM and it really set the tone for the whole experience. My girlfriend had a very detailed and intricate cut and shave. When I tell you, Kayla absolutely slayed on her I am not even kidding. She shaped my girlfriend’s face and matched her natural hair color to the actual T! Kayla was literally the sweetest stylist I have ever crossed paths with and I would 1000% recommend her to everyone...
