We began buying Tonys massa (Portuguese Sweet Bread) bread many years back. During visits to close friends in Fall River, a trip to Tonys before we headed back to Pennsylvania was always a must. I cant describe how thrilled we were when an Ocean State Job Lot opened in our town, and with it, Tonys baked goods display. Finally, authentic Portuguese massa bread available locally. Initially, Tonys Bakery display sold the same product we purchased in Fall River. However the condition of the massa bread varied. Many times the loafs were flatted and crushed. Then the unsliced loafs were replaced with sliced loafs. We preferred to slice the bread as we used it. sometimes thick (to lightly toast) and other times thin. The unsliced bread was also more moist and that effected its overall texture. After several failed trips to Ocean State that yielded only sliced and flattened loafs, we stopped making special trips to Ocean State. The holiday season brought us to Ocean State Job Lot simply to see the stores seasonal offerings. To our surprise, the unsliced loafs have returned. Albeit in a smaller size. But at that smaller size, all of the loafs on display were in perfect condition. I'm happy to see that Tonys seems to be continually adjusting to the changes needed to reach their ever...

However, this is an ongoing issue with many different store locations having same moldy muffin issue. Also, after several weeks a while back where none of the stores could get the muffins, I thought when they were back in stock they would be fresh,...
