Recommend EXTREME caution when buying from the farmers market there.. several sellers there openly urinate outdoors next to the rundown building in the upper park half(with no way of cleaning their hands). Don't walk close to parked cars... people often hangout in their cars(drug users, hookers, homeless, etc). Two major streets intersect the park with no working pedestrian crossing lights. Many sections of the pedestrian walkway is badly damaged - broken cement, so watch where you walk. In upper park - limited trash barrels and old peeling and bent benches. Baseball fields with rusted fences and one with sand washing out on one side. Old closed up building boarded up is often graffitied, pissed on, and drug use. And the urination happens from hookers, homeless, drug users, farmers market people, city workers, and business people(eminar trucking and holy ghost feast organizers). Lower park- broken walkways, closed up broken down pool, tennis courts busted down and huge pothole to bottom parking...
Read moreGood playground for kids. It has one playground that is for younger children, like toddlers. Then there is a 2nd playground, that's higher, n a lil more challenging. Plus there are a bunch of stand alone sections. Great size, and is attached to a larger grass park, which is great for a picnic, or just running around and having fun. The one downside is a few of the times I have taken my 7 yr old daughter, there has been some older kids, like mid teenagers there just hanging out. Which would normally not be a problem, but a few of the times they were swearing loudly, n just sitting on some of the things the children wanted to play with, n God forbid u ask them nicely if they could make room to allow the children to use the equipment, n to please not swear n talk extremely vulgar with the young children around. At that point they just made it impossible for me to allow my daughter to stay v there and play. They were like mid teenagers, so I didn't really have any options, n...
Read moreIt's a shame I has a child would also visit the park. Has the view from the pavilion is beautiful has the sun sets or rises. But now there seems to be other issues underlining the whole enjoyment of the park. Being as we have to watch had her children fight very closely for that has been needles. Has me most no mostly needles carry hep c. But what about the one that you carry the HIV virus? Had just been told to us the virus HIV that is can only live outside the human body no more than 2 minutes. Let's just hope was in that first few minutes that your child your grandchild someone that you care or any child doesn't get to that needle. So please please just keep an eye on your children grandchildren any child make sure that is not pick it up needles. MPS to those of you leaving and needles I know you're going to do your thing but please at least don't leave them in the park where the children are going to pick them up dispose of them...
