1/22/23 Today I recieved a double surprise upon coming here. The Chinese New Year which is till going on outside and inside this mall. The second surprise is finding this restaurant when our number one choice of restaurant was closed due to how busy it is.
The added bonus is Someone from Organic Nail Bar saw me and remember me. I believe Thano is her name. She is one of the owners of the nail shop and does outstanding work along with her sister Alex.
This restaurant was very busy, but we were able to get in without having to wait. I was in the mood for the Golden Pancake and Spring Rolls. These are not the names the restaurant calls them, but they are easy names to remember and the server will most likely know what you are talking about.
Both orders I received were stacked full of greens. Some greens I did not eat. Nevertheless, the food was delicious. The whole time we were eating, the sounds of the dancing dragons could be heard. The Dancing Dragons did ho into some of the shops where managers from other store stopped by to donate money and get their pictures taken.
Some people I saw outside during the fireworks and dragon dance ended up stopping and grabbing a bite to eat. This includes the woman and her family honking her horn at me while waiting for a parking spot. As they say, "Its A Small World after all."
Come back here will be in our...
Read moreI polished off a huge bowl of Bun Rieu Dac Biet (tomato broth noodle soup with crab meat, conch, shrimp, fish cake, and tofu for $16.50) but couldn't resist ordering the Banh Cuon Sai Gon too (shrimp in rice flour rolls, pork in rice flour rolls topped with pork sausage and crispy shrimp cake for $13.75). After all, the restaurant is named Banh Cuon Saigon. Both were delicious and a good size giving value for the price. The Bun Rieu tomato broth was slightly sweet, but that was perfectly balanced when I used a small sauce plate to mix the fermented shrimp paste and chili paste for dipping the noodles and toppings. The Banh Cuon was on point with warm rice rolls, slightly blanched sprouts, and topped with the sausage and shrimp cakes. It all came together when I mixed in the seasoned fish sauce. The two dishes are easily enough for two people. I'm only in the area about once a year, so I had to order both for myself, and look forward to...
Read moreMy husband and I have been going here for 5 plus years. However, we will not be coming back after our last visit this weekend. My husband ordered a coconut drink that came out tasting sour. After having informed our waiter that our coconut drink did not taste the way it should, the coconut drink was removed and brought back into the kitchen. We were then given a second coconut drink - the drink was diluted with water - very weak with the same sour taste. When the bánh cuốn was served, the jar of nước mắm on the table had flies in it. We have been coming from North Bethesda to this restaurant once every few weeks for years, and we will never again eat at this mom and...
