We have been patrons of Dominion Wine since they opened in Falls Church and have come to appreciate the quality of their wine selections and level of service. So it's sad to report that we were very disappointed with our experience this Sunday afternoon. This, by the way, is the first review i have ever posted - for anything. My only hope in posting now is that it might prompt management to consider whether there are areas that can be strengthened as we have been loyal patrons of Dominion for many, many years.
And here is the issue - we walked in Dominion this Sunday afternoon and the store was moderately busy, at best. We were never greeted by anyone and no one offered to assist us in selecting wines. At some point, my wife asked if she could use the restroom and she was directed by an attendant - who seemed quite annoyed in the moment - to the restroom in the main restaurant which is -- wait for it -- three flights of stairs above the ground floor level. Having frequented the store for years, we know that the store has a restroom on the ground level, but we were told that she needed to go up three flights of stairs to use the restroom.
So, of course, my wife happily walked up the stairs to use the restroom and, upon coming back to the store level, confirmed with the attendant on hand that, in fact, there still is a restroom on the ground level. Walking up a few flight of stairs isn't the issue (though a few months ago, my wife never could have made that walk as she has been dealing with serious knee issues and is currently in rehabilitation). What is the issue, and what was truly disappointing, was to find that the warm, friendly atmosphere we are normally greeted with at Dominion was instead an atmosphere of annoyance or indifference at best. I hope Dominion can do better going forward as our experience over the years has been that Dominion is a a real jewel in our community in...
Read moreLet me tell you if I had to pick a restaurant that's my soulmate its this place. Its the hidden gem you didn't know you needed to check out! I live in Fairfax and I'm thinking I would move just to be closer to this spot. Okay so to start off you walk in and its craft beers on the left and wines on your right. They also have a small bar downstairs with craft beers on tap. FYI any of the 36 BEERS on tap you can get canned RIGHT there on the spot for you. The only ones that you can't get canned are because of rules the specific breweries have; in short if the brewery will allow them Dominion will can your drafts. Also you heard me right they have 36 amazing and rare craft beers on tap. The other bar is upstairs to get there go by the wine and there is a tiny stair case on the left. Once you get up there it is so modern and fresh upstairs. I could literally see myself chillng there for hours. The staff is also super attentive and already knows me on a first name basis after serving me ONCE. They are very knowledgeable on beer recommendations. I enjoyed the lamb burger for lunch which I got with a side salad which had no additional up charge! The burger was better than I could have imagined and it had a yogurt sauce and a homemade not-too-spicy harissa sauce that was busting with flavor. If you haven't been you seriously need to check it out ESPECIALLY if you like beer or even just GOOD food! Ah I'm...
Read moreWe paused here during a walk for a happy hour beer and snack, after many months of driving by and saying, "You know? We really need to try this place out." I'm just sad we waited so long, but COVID, right? We had some absolutely fantastic beer in the back beer garden tent (which we were really grateful for when the wind kicked up) but there's also a very nice side deck that braver and more warmly dressed souls were taking advantage of. They sell small glasses of beer (8oz?) which I wish more places would do. And depending on the beer, the sizes go up to keg. Literally. There are some 24(?) kinds of beer on tap and more in bottles and cans. Lots of local breweries. In the face of such riches I couldn't make up my mind, so our server asked what I liked, and when I told him, suggested something. It was perfect, and I now have a new favorite beer! For our snack, we shared some of the french fries (which they called something else I can't remember at the moment) and they were amazing. They were topped with garlic, rosemary, and parmesan cheese, and served with three different sauces. Wow. And finally, I've got to send a shout out to our server, Ian (fingers crossed I remembered his name correctly), who was smiling, cheerful, and informative. Boss, he's a keeper! The whole place...
