This place need to update and train their employees properly for better customer service and learn how to properly interact with the customers when there is an issue. I visited for the first time and really loved the cake so I returned for another visit. With the excitement of trying different flavor of the cake, we ordered mochi flavored mousse cake only by looking at the photos. I have to admit that I only looked at the photos and didn't fully read the ingredient that it has Soy in it, which I cant eat. so, when it came out and I took one bite, I had to immediately bring it back to the front. When I explained to them and said it is my fault for not reading all the ingredient, but I told them I am not able to eat soy and asked if anything can be done, this one employee or maybe a manager(?) I'm really not sure, who she was, but she said she cant do anything for me and said "just throw it out". (in a rude way). absolutely no pride over their product. I didn't want money back or anything, I just wanted some kind of "fix" of the situation and I politely asked for "help" but she said nothing can be done and said just throw it out...what kind of poor service is that? she was very rude of her words. When the quality of customer service is poor, it doesn't matter how good the product is, it will always be a bad experience, and I will never return. I am even more shocked as this is called a "Japanese dessert" and we all know Japanese customer service is top notch. Was Very disappointed of the whole experience and I simply threw out everything I ordered, mousse cake that I couldn't eat also the ube roll cake (which was also bad) and the matcha drink as it no longer tasted good after horrible interaction with the employee or whatever she was. Wasted...
Read moreKyo Matcha recently opened in the Falls Church area, and it’s already a huge hit! I’ve been to the other locations, and what I always admire about them is the consistency and also care for customers. A few friends and I went there to celebrate a birthday, and the whole team there was so amazing and attentive. They even played a happy birthday song over the speaker and also kindly gifted us some sweet desserts. While I’m sure they can’t do this for every customer, they really went out of their way to celebrate my friend and also create a welcoming environment. Thank you to the all the staff there ❤️.
We ordered several different items (some not included in the photos): matcha and vanilla mix ice cream cone, matcha and Hojicha mix ice cream cup with Oreo topping, matcha tiramisu that comes with a matcha shot, and matcha yuzu (50% sugar level). We also had the chance to try the Dream of Sakura and a few more special desserts. I can’t wait to try more of the menu.
The interior is modern and very clean. Their decor has a lot of natural elements, and the space can accommodate small groups of people. Overall, they create a great space for a quick drink or hang out with friends and family. For parking, I recommend the retail parking lot at Founders Row next to the Kyo Matcha entrance. The retail parking lot also has EV...
Read moreMy matcha was delicious, but I was a bit disappointed with how Kyoto Matcha wasted my time. Before making the 30 minute drive, I asked online if they offer vegan desserts or have an allergen menu so I could check myself. They responded that they do have a couple and to ask the staff in store which are vegan. Once I got there I asked the staff who thought they do not have any vegan desserts. I contacted Kyoto Matcha again online and asked if they have any desserts free of dairy, eggs, or gelatin to which they responded "Most of our dessert don’t contain egg dairy and gelatin." This is clearly false because most of their desserts visibly contain cream. I had asked hoping some of their more ambiguous items, like the sakura dream or almond tofu, would be ok but their response was concerning and after that I would not feel safe ordering any dessert there unless they provide an ingredient list I can view myself. Of course I don't expect most places to offer anything vegan, but it's something else to ask and be told they do only to waste time driving and find out that they misinformed me. If you have allergies or avoid certain ingredients I would advise being cautious about what you order here and to take what Kyoto Matcha says with a...
