I have heard a lot about this place from friends. Tried out the lemongrass chicken pho onsite. It was delicious. The broth was amazing and the air fried lemongrass chicken on top was amazing. The traditional chicken eggs were so hard, probably from frozen but it was a side order. It doesn't come with the pho order.
However when I Order carry out of the lemongrass chicken with rice it was not great . Not great at all. Ordered 3 portions and they were sooooo dry . Like chicken jerky dry. Very disappointed. This dish at Pho Saté is a billion times better. Pho Ga Vang needs to reformulate this dish. It seems like they are short staff too. Overall I would come back for the chicken pho but you can get that anywhere that serves pho now a days. The gem could be the lemongrass chicken if they perfect the dish
Update 9/14 . So I went back to this restaurant cause my brother swear it has gotten better. 🙄. It has not . The broth is not even a chicken broth . It’s all 5 spice . Horrible . For $70 (3 bowls of pho) the broth better be kick ass. It’s flavored water. So disappointed. Plus the restaurant was not crowded. Should have known...
Read moreThe DC area has no shortage of pho places and I thought I already had my favorites. Pho Ga Vang changed my mind and is now in my top three on the whole East Coast! The base chicken pho is fantastic, with a broth that is a bit creamy. I like the generous portions of scallions and cilantro added to each bowl. We also had the Pho Nam (beef brisket, called chin in some places) which is my go-to beef pho. I loved the accentuation of star anise among the flavors and the broth has more structure than many other places. It’s also very convenient to be able to get bubble tea and pho in the same shop. Finally, the savory and spicy dipping sauce for the meat is really, really tasty. It’s really the icing on the cake. And the staff were friendly and efficient. My only slight hesitation is that I prefer lean brisket over fatty brisket (a la Pho Bat Dan in Hanoi), and our meat was a little on the fatty side. I’ll definitely be back - this is now one of our family go-to...
Read moreWe walked in on a Friday around the evening last month and had the chicken phở w/shredded white meat ($14.99), the lemongrass chicken phở ($15.99), 1/2 of the walking chicken ($17.99) w/some plain rice noodles ($9.99) and the chicken gizzard/egg combo ($14.99). Our party of 4 left satisfied and we ended up paying less than $100 (including tips) for everything! There is also a bubble tea place inside as well (Mr. Wish) and though I didn't try it myself, the convenience might be enticing for those looking to pair their meal with a refreshing beverage. You also pay at the counter when you are finished with your meal so there is no hassle with the back and forth with giving your card to the waiter. Should I be in the area again, it is highly likely that I will return.
As a side note, I found it strange that they were playing back-to-back girl group k-pop music videos on the big screen instead...
