SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM TO SEE MY 1/31/2023 UPDATED REVIEW. I ordered takeout for my mom and me, and they said the order would be ready in 20 minutes. I came back in ~15 minutes, and they said it would just be a few minutes more, so I waited near the front of the restaurant where they have some benches for waiting. After 7 more minutes, I asked if the order was ready, they said it wasn’t ready yet. Then a few minutes later they said they gave my order to the wrong person, and that they would get my order ready right away and sorry for the mistake. If all that wasn’t bad enough, when I got home the meat they gave me was uncooked, so my Mom and me had to cook it ourselves. I give this restaurant 3 demerits because of everything that when wrong with my order. On top of all that, I heard some customer, I assumed, say, “you look so poor”. However, after we cooked the food, it was a pretty good tasting bowl of pho. Overall, I give this restaurant 3 stars because of the ordering fiasco; the food itself was good quality and taste very good though when I, finally, got to eat it. Great tasting food, but bad service experience. 1/23/2023 UPDATE: I’ve been back to this restaurant several times recently to dine at the restaurant and the Pho that I ordered tasted excellent. Also the in-restaurant service was prompt and attentive. The review above of my take out order was perhaps just a fluke in the service. I’m upgrading my rating to 5 stars because the taste of the Pho is really...
Read moreUPDATE: Went again and it's been probably 5 months since opening now. The restaurant has gone downhill in some regards. The bo luc lac beef is easily discernable as cheap quality - chewy and not pure beef tips. The caramel pork was decent but quantity was smaller than before. We asked for a small (rice bowl size) side bowl of pho broth, and was told it was $6. Usually places charge $2, everyone offers this. Ridiculous. Flavors are still really good so the chefs are very good, but ingredients quality went down.
Newest restaurant in Eden. We went on a Tuesday night and it was pretty packed. Definitely no social distancing and most of the staff were not wearing masks or kept removing their masks. Still a bit hectic - lot of staff but doesn't seem like everyone knows their roles or knows the menu all too well. Aside from all that, the food is absolutely delicious. We tried the tamarind soup, shaky beef clay pot, and caramel fish. The shrimp in the soup was surprisingly quite large and quite fresh - a difference from most places. The caramel fish was a bit different in a good way - cleaner tasting than most places. The shaky beef clay pot came out piping hot, beef tender, and rice at the bottom crispy. All in all, we will definitely be back - definitely one of the better tasting restaurants with a good variety of...
Read moreReally really solid pho!!! You truly can't go wrong with ANY of the wonderful Vietnamese shops in Eden Center, but VietFoods certainly stands out even amongst all the gems that this spot has to offer. My friend and I were really craving a warm bowl of pho after a long night of drinking and festivities, so we decided to make our way here after buying a few Chinese snacks at Good Fortune and enjoying a refreshing bingsoo. My friend tried their pho tai bo vien (pho with lean steak, brisket, and beef meatball) and absolutely loved it, and I had their seafood pho! It was super tasty and had a combination of cuttlefish, shrimp, and oysters; the broth was incredibly flavorful and the portion size was incredible for the price.
The service was also amazingly speedy. The restaurant was busy, but they seated us almost immediately. They took our orders and brought our food out all within about 20 minutes. They were a bit slow with the drinks, though...my friend ordered a Vietnamese coffee that didn't reach our table until halfway through our meal. Either way, incredible service overall with wonderful food and a delightful location....
