Sometimes I visit a food establishment that makes me want to lower all of my other ratings by a star. Maison Villatte is one of those places. I'm a sucker for meat and cheese combined with excellent bread/pastries, and Maison Villatte has so many items that fit the bill and blow everything else I've had in the past out of the water. They have excellent pastries with excellent flavors. Falmouth has become a top road trip destination for me because of Maison Villatte alone.

My favorite item that I had was the ham and cheese croissant -- it's huge with infinite buttery flaky layers, crispy cheese on the outside, and delicious ham and cheese inside. We were lucky to get a hot one, and finished it immediately. I heavily considered buying another one when we stopped by the Woods Hole location a couple of hours later (despite having multiple other meat+cheese items to finish).

The Parisien baguette sandwich (ham, cheese, butter) was also excellent, and I really enjoyed the bacon and cheese fougasse as well (though the bacon we got had much more fat than meat). We also got the focaccia sandwich with prosciutto and tomato sauce, and the focaccia had very nice air bubbles.

We also tried the pain au chocolat, which was unsurprisingly delicious, and the chocolate raspberry genoise, which was perfectly smooth and decadent.

I have heard that their coffee is not the best. I tried a bit of the strawberry chocolate mocha, and while the coffee flavor is mostly masked by the sweet flavors, it is not the best I've had.

I'm literally planning my next trip to Maison Villatte, and will be craving its delicious savory and sweet options...

(Last visited 5/6/2022.) Vacationing in Cape Cod and it's about time to head home, but before we do, we absolutely HAD to stop by this gorgeous French bakery right on Main Street since they close earlier in the day. So why not make a breakfast out of it?!

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the main strip near the busy entryway of downtown is this gem. You can smell the fresh baked goods all the way down the street and once you're inside you're IMMERSED in the beauty of all of the hand-crafted goodies that are all made one by one! I LOVED this. Family-owned, created by hand and all baked with love. You don't get that a lot anymore. The decor was simple, straightforward and not too drastic. It really felt like I was back in Bordeaux hoping to find a fresh baguette to go with my wine!

Service: Everything is counter-service here so you go up to the counter right near the front door to order. You can ask 1,000,000 questions and they'll keep their patience with you because honestly, there's just SO MUCH STUFF here to gawk at and drool over. Lol. You'll seriously want one or even 2 of everything.

Food: During my visit I tried what I believe was a chocolate-filled eclair, a fruit tart and some sort if flatbread-cheesy-pretzel deliciousness. Lol. Everything was spectacular. I won't even get into the specifics, just know they can do no wrong here!

Value: It's a French bakery, so you can get a lot for your money here, but it'll add up quickly.

In conclusion, I loved this place and had I known it was here earlier in the week I would've tried to convince the wife to take a walk every morning to try something...

This place has incredible food and an authentic vibe, as the food is spot on! Truly incredible delectables!

Sadly as we were waiting for our friends to go through the long line, I was sipping my coffee and my son and I sampled an end piece of sourdough bread. We were greeted by a friendly worker letting us know we can’t eat inside so we wrapped up our stuff. But at the same time A rude worker yelled at us from behind the counter as the other woman came over politely to us asking us not to eat inside. It was quite embarrassing.

When we went back through the line to grab sandwiches (because my friend thought we were eating lunch there and we had only purchased desserts), my son had a little piece of the bread still left in his hand and I didn’t know it, and put it in his mouth. It was then we were shouted at like criminals and made to feel humiliated. Had I known he had that tiny piece left to put in his mouth I would’ve handled it. And he wouldn’t have done it if he had known it was a criminal offense to finish the one little piece he had taken out previously.

He’s probably the most polite boy you’ll ever meet. I was so deflated as we departed the store because I was super excited about being in this truly amazing bakery. They really ruined our experience . As a business owner I would never shout at people and make them feel that way.

We drove almost an hour to get there which made it even worse. Kindness matters. We...

While spending the holiday season in Cape Cod, we discovered this new café in downtown. It looked very inviting, and with raving reviews, we decided to check it out. They had some tables, although not many, but a good amount for a café. We arrived super early so avoid the morning rush. While we were sitting and enjoying our breakfast, people started to line up. Once the end of the line reached the entrance/exit door, it curved around the long wooden counter table. Wow! They had all sorts of baked goods, including all kinds of croissants, cookies, cakes, tartelettes, eclairs, etc. They also offer many savory items also. While standing in line, one of their staffs will be “assigned” to you. They make it simple by each customer ordering and paying for the order with one staff. They were all very nice and efficient, patient and polite. We got Plougastel, Éclair Pistache, and Chou a la Crème. They were all so delicious and amazing! For actual savory breakfast, we ordered Focaccia du Jour and Croque Monsieur. They were good size for sharing, fluffy and tasty! Needless to say, we had a nice breakfast here. We went back a few more times after that, getting more sweets and savory items. Everything we ordered was tasty and well crafted we enjoyed them all. The staffs here were very nice and welcoming, polite and warm. What a lovely bakery café! We will be sure to return the next time we are in Cape Cod!

An absolute must visit if you’re in the Cape, at any point. Their pastries rival those of Paris, and that’s saying something. Chocolate croissants, chocolate almond croissants, little pizzas with bacon, fruit tarts, quiche.. everything I’ve ever tried from here has sent me into orbit and I dream of going back. Their lavender lattes are also delicious and have real lavender in them.. which is lovely until you get to the last sip.. so just leave that one in the cup. Service is quick so don’t be intimidated by the line. Wish they had inside seating, but there’d be no point as the line always fills up the entire establishment because they’re that good.
