UNPROFESSIONAL!! My fiancĆ© and I encountered K while searching for a bakery for our wedding. We met with her and tasted 4 different cakes she had in the case that day, which all tasted good. She quoted me at $72 for a two-tier cake which I thought was reasonable so we said we would like to book with her. We were still unsure of what flavor we wanted to go with, and she was very willing to try any combination we wanted. At this point we were happy with our experience so far. A week later we were throwing a graduation party so we decided to order cupcakes from Kās in order to try some more flavor options, and this is where the disappointment came.. I had called and ordered 2 dozen cupcakes, which I had asked to be decorated NDSU since that is where the graduation was from. She mentioned that green frosting typically does not look appealing and can sometimes turn peopleās teeth green, so I asked if she could do gold frosting with green sprinkles, she said āyes I can do thatā, and that is what we had agreed upon. I had also asked if it was possible to write 3 letters on the cupcakes, however she denied that request. We had talked about flavor options she would include, and went over how we were not a fan of the red velvet we tasted originally. The next morning my fiancĆ© went and picked up the cupcakes, and what he brought home completely shocked me. The cupcakes had green frosting, which looked WET, and gold sprinkles. I was confused because this was not what we had agreed upon on the phone and did not look very well done. She had also included two red velvet cupcakes, which I thought we had made clear that we didnāt need to taste that kind again. This was also the point where I found out the cost... $68 for two dozen cupcakes!! Although I never specifically asked for pricing, she also never informed me of the amount or has an online menu anywhere, so I was shocked to find out they cost that much, especially looking the way they did. My family observed the cupcakes at the party and agreed that the appearance did not look well done, and that the cupcakes did taste good, but were also shocked to hear how much they cost. Later that day I gave her a call and politely told her that we were a little disappointed in how the cupcakes looked and that we were deciding to go a different direction for our wedding, so I kindly asked her to unreserved our date (which was over 2 months away, but I wanted to make sure she knew as soon as possible in order to open it back up). She had said she was sorry to hear that, and then the phone cut out and I was unable to hear anything on the other end, so I hung up. I was expecting a call back to finish the conversation and inquire on our reasoning, however I never got one.
An HOUR later I received a TEXT MESSAGE on my cell phone. She completely insulted us and accused us of āwasting her timeā even though we paid full price for the cupcakes we received and immediately let her know (two months in advance) that we were deciding to not go through her anymore. I was completely appalled. I have never once received a text message or response like that from any company. It was extremely unprofessional. She was very arrogant about her work and tried to blame it on me, where she had clearly forgotten and made a mistake on the color of the frosting. I had given her my number to contact me about any orders I had, not send me a hate message. I am not impressed that she contacted me the way she did, and blocked her number to avoid ever having to deal with her again. We will NEVER be giving her any of our business again after how this situation...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKās Bakery is hands down THE BEST bakery/luncheon restaurant in town! Prices are a bit above what one would like to spend, but the taste is above and beyond any other! You do get what you pay for! I have frequented Kās since it opened in the old K Mart lot. I have baked literally thousands of cookies in my lifetime; even baking and selling as a cottage business. Ingredients matter and Kās uses real butter! (Not a cheap ingredient) Kās make their own mayonnaise for their chicken salad. (Time consuming) Pie plates are more than one use, so a deposit is paid, but reimbursed on the return of the plate. (Good use of resources and the Earth) I purchase pies multiple times during the year; purchase take out meals and eat in....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe bars we purchased were dried out and for the price were very small. One bar was an edge piece with no frosting in the corner! Probably okay since the frosting was hard and crumbed off when taking a bite! The atmosphere is kind of junky behind the counter and in front too with all the chalkboards listing specials. It would be nice to just have one on the wall instead of leaning against the furniture on the floor. The pendant light were also really dirty! Although we had to wait about ten minutes in line, the staff...
