J's Deli is a hidden gem, buried in a commercial district quite northwest of downtown (near Irving). The customer base seems to be predominantly workers at nearby companies, but let me tell you why it's worth making the trip out to this incredible delicatessens.
To sum it up: DELICIOUS, HUGE VARIETY, BIG PORTIONS, and CHEAP. What more could you ask for in a deli, or a restaurant for that matter?
I've been here about 10 times, and I can't break the habit of ordering their panini 'cause they are the best panini I've ever tasted (and for only $5!). But I've also sampled their salads, full plates (eg country fried steak and gravy), daily soups, and their normal deli sandwiches. Ingredients are freshy fresh, and everything is seasoned to perfection. Again, all things that will leave hardly a dent in your wallet--on the contrary you'll walk away feeling like you got a steal.
I goto school out of state, but every time I'm home I make my way out here at least once. The service is warm, hospitable, and very fast. The Korean couple that runs the place are just awesome people, very friendly.
So, this deli is not about original food, but doing your normal deli food way better than the...
Read moreWe stumbled upon Jay’s Deli by sheer luck while searching on Google, and wow, what a gem! Everything we tried completely exceeded our expectations. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, a side of two pancakes, and a taste of the chicken noodle soup (today’s special)—and it all felt like it was made with love by someone’s grandma in the back.
Let me tell you about those pancakes: they were out of this world! Crispy on the outside, with a perfect buttery flavor that melted in your mouth. They came with a glorious slab of butter on top, and every bite was pure heaven. I also stole one of my girlfriend’s tater tots, and honestly, they might be the best tots I’ve ever had—perfectly crispy and golden on the outside, warm and soft inside.
The chicken noodle soup was another standout. It had that homemade, comforting flavor that takes you right back to childhood. And the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant? It was perfectly squished and absolutely delicious.
Jay’s Deli is more than a meal—it’s an experience that feels like home. We’ll definitely be back for more!...
Read moreI absolutely love this place. It's all alone in a business park so traffic isn't even a problem like it is over near MacArthur. They have delicious and generous daily specials, I've recently had chicken-fried steak and a pork chop, each with two generous sides (I usually get some of their great green beans, carrots, or mashed potatos, but on a sick day the chicken soup was delicious). My office coworkers are pretty jealous when I bring back J's for myself. Typically I'm out about $6 tax and all when I leave with a restaurant-sized meal. Some days I go with J's Panino and it's always pretty good. I've heard great things about their burgers too.
All the better, you can get in-and-out in about 5-10 minutes leaving you most of your lunch hour to yourself. This is also kind of a shame, since all of the staff is so nice and J is always there to great the patrons. I wish this place was open more like a diner with late hours so I could grab...
