Unfortunately I went to this restaurant today hoping that I could enjoy some great buffet in a South Indian Restaurant. I was Completely Disappointed and Cheated by the foods they had in Buffet. Here is my experience: Hyderabad Dum Biriyani (just the label)- What was kept is deep oil chicken pieces in yellow color fried rice Pepper Mutton Curry(label)- Sweet Gravy(funny) with no pepper hint Chicken chettinad curry(label)- if you are a South Indian, you would definitely know what the flavor of Chicken Chettinad but what was served is a sweet curry, I guess they used the same gravy for pepper mutton curry with just by adding some stuff to appear different Tandoori Chicken- No Salt(No Flavor)- just food colored chicken pieces White rice(label)- severely burnt undercooked traced from the bottom of the vessel Let me stop with this. I literally got pissed off with the ambience first. I thought may be this is like an Indian Hotel kind of restaurant, so didn’t mind about the ambience. But when I had the above, I felt like vomiting being a Foodie and a South Indian and have origin in both Hyderabad and Chennai, I know what the flavors of the food they labelled in Buffet.
When I spoke to (he called himself as the owner of the restaurant) Srikanth, he acknowledged the fact and his colleagues informed that since they had huge crowd today, they were out of stock that they had to serve these what they called themselves as the above. This means, the owner and his colleagues deliberately decided to cheat the people who come here to enjoy their day with their family. I’m sure that he can cheat the people who don’t know the authenticity of the food labels they placed there. But they cannot cheat a person like me who is from South India.
The owner later apologised and that no customer should leave unhappy from the restaurant and tried to compensate by waiving off my food charge and even tried to provide some free food stuff. I rejected his offers- They deliberately cheated me and ruined my special day. I cannot forgive. I paid for what I ate(with no choice since I did eat since the morning since I was hoping that I would enjoy a great South Indian Buffet.
Folks who do not know the taste and quality of South Indian Food and would like to try one, I request that you try a different restaurant. I went to this restaurant because I was mesmerised with the numbers and rating this restaurant had in Google. But now I understand how proxies can play role in making those false reviews.
This is not a mistake. They literally purposely Cheated everyone. Folks who do not know the quality and flavors of the food labels that was made in buffet, didn’t mind it since they do not know the authentic flavors. They need to have some basic ethics to serve these cheap foods. If they do not have sufficient food in stock, they just stop taking orders rather than abusing.
@Owner of this restaurant, don’t do a copy paste to ask for a phone number and seek a chance to recover this fault. You deliberately cheated and you are still abusing.
You have ruined the authenticity of the regional food just for the sake of your so...
Read moreAs a connoisseur of Indian cuisine, I've had my fair share of chicken biryanis, but none quite like the one I found in Michigan. Nestled in the heart of the state, this hidden gem of a restaurant delivers an authentic and tantalizing experience that left my taste buds begging for more.
The chicken biryani here is a masterpiece of flavors and textures. Each bite is a harmonious blend of tender chicken pieces, fragrant basmati rice infused with aromatic spices, and perfectly balanced seasoning. The dish is generously garnished with caramelized onions, fresh coriander, and crispy fried shallots, adding layers of complexity to every mouthful.
What sets this biryani apart is the meticulous attention to detail in its preparation. The chicken is marinated to perfection, ensuring that it's succulent and bursting with flavor. The rice is cooked to the ideal consistency, neither too mushy nor too firm, allowing it to absorb the essence of the spices without losing its individual grains.
One of the highlights of this biryani is the symphony of spices that dance on your palate with each bite. From the warm notes of cinnamon and cardamom to the subtle heat of cloves and peppercorns, every spice is discernible yet harmoniously balanced. It's a culinary journey that takes you straight to the streets of Hyderabad or Lucknow, where biryani is not just a dish but a cultural icon.
The portion size is generous, making it perfect for sharing or indulging in a satisfying meal all to yourself. Paired with a side of cooling raita and tangy mango chutney, it's a feast fit for a king.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Michigan craving authentic Indian cuisine, look no further than this restaurant for a truly unforgettable chicken biryani experience. Whether you're a seasoned biryani enthusiast or a newcomer to Indian flavors, this dish is sure to leave a lasting impression....

Experience Traditional Indian Dining at Akshaya Patra in Farmington Hills, where diners have shared their thoughts on the lunch thali experience.
FOOD QUALITY👍: We tried the lunch thali on a Thursday, and while the food was okay, it didn’t stand out. The thali seemed to be prepared in bulk, which may have affected the freshness. The Pappad was not fresh, the Chapati was decent, and the Goat Curry lacked flavor. The Butter Chicken was satisfactory but didn’t leave a lasting impression.
SERVICE & HOSPITALITY👍: The service at Akshaya Patra is decent. Unlike a buffet, the thali refills are provided by the server, which is a nice touch. However, the overall service experience was average.
AMBIENCE & SETTING👎: The interior of the restaurant is maintained adequately but doesn’t offer anything exceptional. The ambiance is rather plain and could benefit from some improvements to enhance the dining experience.
VALUE for MONEY👎: With a price of around $20 per person, including a decent tip, the value for money aspect could be better considering the quality of the food and the overall experience.
LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY👍: Conveniently located in Farmington Hills, Akshaya Patra is easy to find, though parking is somewhat limited. It’s a practical option for those in the area seeking Indian cuisine.
In summary, Akshaya Patra Indian Cuisine offers a decent but not outstanding lunch experience with its Thursday thali. The food quality could be improved, and the value for money is questionable at the current price point. We plan to return for dinner and order from the menu to see if the experience improves, with the hope that it will be worthy of a...
