Very disappointed. We really wanted to love this place! We drove half an hour to get there after searching for an authentic Italian cafe. From the outside the place looks inviting, love the street it’s on, white little picket fence surrounded by tall trees, it was a beautiful breezy day which added to the atmosphere. But we were quickly let down by the person behind the counter’s lack of interest in being there. She was very unhappy, didn’t smile and made us feel as if she’s annoyed by our presence. We ordered 2 Lattes a panini a crepe and two cannolis. We picked a shaded table outside and sat down only to find out there were wasps everywhere! By the time the food arrived they were all over it, but compared to the cramped indoor seating we decided to pull through hoping the food will be worth it. After reading the reviews and seeing the video, we were expecting to receive our drinks in mugs, with properly steamed milk and maybe some latte art as a bonus, you know, like what you would expect at an “Italian” Cafe. The drinks came out in paper cups, the milk was burnt and extremely hot with no foam, one tasted as if it was insta coffee and the other was decent, but I would not call either of them a Latte, as can be seen in the attached picture. The crepe and panini were ok. Not the best we tasted but good. The cannolis were the only positive thing about this place! The most appalling part of our experience were the utensils and fabric napkins. They smelled of mildew and I had to go to the bathroom to wash the fork in order to continue eating. That smell was so overwhelming that I couldn’t finish my food. This place has the potential to be a good place. Unfortunately we will not be...
Read moreI had preordered a crepe cake for my daughter’s birthday and stopped by a little after 12:00 on the 23rd to pick it up. I had never been here, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The cafe is a little house that they’ve turned into an adorable cafe. Parking can be in the street or in the designated parking spots in the parking lot to the left of the cafe.
I walked in with my daughter and I think I heard someone say “hi” while I was shutting the door. I turned around and said “hello” and neither girl looked up from what they were doing. They were both making crepes and then started on drinks. The ambiance was a little awkward and I felt like I was standing there unnoticed for 10 minutes. The cafe seemed pretty full and I know they are understaffed, so I already planned on a longer wait. I just wish they had said they’d be with me in a moment so it wouldn’t have felt so awkward.
Once one of the girls finished making the drinks, took them to the table, and then asked if she could take my order. I explained my daughter and I were there to pick up a crepe cake. She grabbed the crepe cake from the front display, asked the boss how to ring it up, and then handed me the cake. The box had popped open and I was struggling, so she helped me get the box closed. She was super nice and helpful.
Later that evening the six of us enjoyed a delicious slice of crepe cake. It was like eating a little slice of heaven…and it was very filling. We will 100% order a crepe cake again. Next time I’ll see if I can prepay so I can just grab the cake and go.
I’d love to dine in one of these days, but I’ll need to make sure it’s a day where I have a lot of time. It’s a wait, but I feel like it’ll...
Read moreWell, the food was good, but unfortunately, the service was so poor that I likely won't be back. I understand that wait times are long when short staffed and hand preparing food, but this was pure chaos. There is no organization among staff whatsoever. We saw several different team members jumping around to fill several different roles, none of which appeared to further their progress toward fulfilling orders.
My friend and I each ordered a crepe and a drink. My drink arrived first, after being seated for about 20 minutes. Then we received my friend's crepe after another 20 minutes. Then after another 20 minutes, I got my crepe. Then my friend was informed that the drink she had purchased was out of stock, and what would she like instead? After ordering a substitute drink, she waited another 20 minutes, at which point we had already finished our meal. This piecemeal delivery was not an enjoyable dining experience.
In order to improve efficiency, I suggest a dedicated cashier, a dedicated cook, and a dedicated server to attend to seated guests. If any of these roles become unneeded at any time, assign a hierarchy for team members to assist in another role. For example, as the cashier, if there aren't any customers to check out, first assist the server, then the cook. As soon as a cashier becomes needed again, return to your primary role. This seems simple, but appeared to be lost on the staff at Caffe Torino.
I also suggest that out of stock items be erased from the menu daily. It is a chalkboard menu so this seems like a simple fix. This should reduce customer dissatisfaction, as it is frustrating when items that have already been paid for are found later to be...
