Columbia St Mercantile — Restaurant in Farmington

I am so frustrated with myself for waiting so long to check this place out!

I felt like the coolest MIMI and AUNT ever taking my little ones to this magical place right here in our little magical downtown.

While talking to the owner (because she took the time to come out from behind the counter and treat my girls like they were the most important priority) I found out they are also from NY and as a result make the meanest cannoli you have ever tasted! My heart was so happy. Cannolis were always one of my favorite desserts and I respect them tremendously! If you've never had one RUN! THE ICECREAM WAS AMAZING. HOMEMADE OF COURSE! THEY HAVE THEIR COFFEE SHIPPED! THE PRICES OF THEIR TOYS ARE UNBELIEVABLE. I had to ask because nothing was overpriced like other places in the area, I could only imagine I wasn't reading it correctly!

I honestly wound up buying the rest of their cannolis and ordering more, which they made fresh for me a few hours later! (Don't judge)

Yes, I felt like I got to be a big kid again today and I am hyperfixated on the cannolis but don't let that fool you.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE was finding out that they were successful restaurant owners in NY but they chose to open a place like this for the kids/teenagers in our community to have a safe place to hang out and just be kids. They stay open late when there are school dances so the kids have a safe place to hang out after. They made them a selfie wall and opened their doors regardless if the kids spent money or not.

Anyone who knows me, knows that kids are my kryptonite. And I had the honor of meeting people that care enough to build up our downtown community and empower our teenagers and make all ages happy bc honestly...those cannolis!! Hehe!!

Please support this place! Make them so successful that this agenda becomes contagious and our kids have options other than getting high and drunk. Maybe other places will pop up that make our downtown badass and our teenagers cannot resist the allure of staying young, just a little bit longer.

My husband and I had the BEST experience at this Mercantile! We like to visit Mercantiles in places we visit and Columbia St Mercantile is definitely the best we've visited! We were immediately greeted when we walked in and the very sweet gal working was absolutely wonderful and we could see her enthusiasm for the products! She was so easy to talk with and made our time there so enjoyable! The old time candy was fun for me as it took me down memory lane. We've been there once - just yesterday - and it was right at closing time, no one was there - and the owners daughter was running the shop.

She was a joy to chat with - told us all about their shop and the various items that come and go. My husband inquired about huckleberry flavored ice cream - and much to our surprise it might be a possibility!! She said that the flavors change each day and are made in-house by her dad and that they use various dairy products not just milk.

There are Ty Beanies, spices, backpacks, toys and a lot more!! That was just from a quick browse since they were closing!!
