By far the worst "mexican" food I have ever had. It is definitely nothing like authentic mexican food and trying to call it as such is an abomination to real mexican style food. The shredded beef is extremely soggy and has the texture of wet paper. The tamales don't have nearly enough filling and honestly taste like they are previously frozen, the only plus is that they were moist. The chili verde was terrible. Their salsa tasted like they made it with marinara sauce doused with oregano and salt and was the consistency of water. The beef burrito was atrocious, it comes with soggy shredded lettuce inside (lettuce should never be on a burrito in the first place!) My wife got a chimichanga that was swimming in oil with below sub-par enchilada sauce. Her guac was brown. The beans were soupy and bland. The rice tasted like they made it with chicken flavored Top Ramen seasoning. And to top it all off, the flavor of everything was just gross. This was my first and last time eating their food. I was considering going to Betos and should have gone there instead because I would have gotten better food for a lot less money. This was the worst $30 I've ever spent on food. Do not be fooled my their menu, it sounds better than it really is! I have never been more disappointed about my food in my life. Absolutely disgusting and terrible. I imagine this place being run by a person who has absolutely no idea what seasoning is and labels things wrapped in a tortilla as mexican food. La Puente or Red Iguana are much better restaurants and are a lot closer...
Read moreGO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! The only things good out of my meal (shredded beef enchilada and shredded beef taco with beans and rice, with a horchata) was the shredded beef. The taco was a punch in the face of corn. The tortilla from the enchilada was soggy. The beans were okay for being out of a can. The rice was just moist enough not to need a drink or gag from it, but a little too cold. I had to get my order to go because they were closing. I went to the park near by (not even a mile away) and that is how it was. The horchata tasted gross! Normally I know with Javier's you are getting good horchata, but this wad disgusting. It tasted like it was bottom of the barrel last drink of day from yesterday. With how thick of rice and cinnamon it was. My meal was just under $20 and very not worth it!! Seriously wished I would have gone to Costa Vida or Cafe Rio and paid the same price for better! Also, if you are owning a restaurant and you seem to be changing your hours all the time or closed at random times. How are you still open? Seriously!! Do the world a favor and your stomachs! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! The guy acted annoyed that I showed up and the lady that handed me my food had a customer service voice, but had an annoyed look on her face. My family will never go there!! If we want Javiers we will just...
Read moreFantastic meal but some plates are a better value then others. Paying 1.99 extea for the Chile Verde gets almost as much Chile Verde as the Chile Verde plate so that's worth it. 1 corn tortilla given with the Chile Verde plate which was already extremely lackluster compared to the Enchilada plate and then they charged an extra dollar for a 2nd tortilla which seemed silly. The pricing just seemed off at that place. The chips and salsa was great but they had to refill it for us 5 times because the kept bringing us these tiny handfuls of chips (there was 4 of us). 😆 The booth seat was so old I could tell half of it needed to be replaced or repaired. The restaurant interior seems old, but doesn't give that nostalgia of old buildings it just seems old and slightly run-down looking but out of place. Menu seemed like it had too many options, mostly rearrangements or variations of the same sort of stuff. My advice: fine tune/trim the menu a bit to your best plates, do what you can with the atmosphere. Don't nickel & dime on tortillas when the plate is already costing over 15. I suspect the business is struggling. Having said all that, food was good enough that I would eat there again though. The pork/meats etc... very good. Better then just about every Mexican place...
