I’ve been to Gussano’s Pizza twice, and unfortunately, my second visit was a huge disappointment. The first time was fine, but the second time was a mess from start to finish.
We sat down and waited over 10 minutes before our waitress—who seemed visibly deflated when we didn’t order alcohol—finally took our drink order. Another couple sat down 15 minutes after us and had the same waitress, but she treated them like royalty, constantly checking in and bringing them drinks (they were drinking alcohol). Meanwhile, we were ignored.
An hour passed, and we still didn’t have our food. By this time, it was a little past 8PM and my hunger. The couple who arrived after us was already eating. When our food was finally delivered to our table, my husband’s calzone was way overstuffed with sauce and dangerously hot, while my chicken pesto spaghetti was cold and congealed—unappetizing and gross.
(on a side note, the chicken pesto spaghetti had three minuscule slivers of chicken that were almost as thin as carpaccio).
Even though the manager was nice, the overall experience was unacceptable. No drink refills, no apologies from the waitress (manager apologized), and no attention from the staff.
This place is hit or miss...and based on my second visit, it is highly improbable a return visit will be...
Read moreThis was my favorite place of all time, we used to come here every weekend and enjoy the delicious pizza with the family. Today we decided to visit since we haven’t gone there in a while. The restaurant was very empty, yet all the tables were dirty and filed with dishes. An employee at the entrance seated us to a booth in the front of the restaurant. Two other people were seated at a booth in front of us. 10 minutes had passed and not one waitress said anything to us, yet one of the waitresses served the people in front of us. We couldn’t hear what the waitresses were saying to the customers, but it seemed like a form of disrespect. 15 minutes had passed and a waitress walked to our table just to replace the cheese, they didn’t ask about the drinks, nor about the food, just...cheese. 20 minutes had passed and the people in front of us were planning to leave, they were talking about how the waitresses were disrespecting them, although I couldn’t hear exactly what they said I heard one of them say, “did you hear the way they talked to us,” as they were leaving. Around 25 minutes had passed and we still weren’t served, no drinks, no appetizers, nothing. We left hungry and...
Read moreI REALLY want so much to love this place. They are within convenient distance of our home. The food, while certainly not the best pizza in NWA, is decent and reasonably priced. And the service also is usually good. The Tuesday night 1/2-price pizza is one of the best deals in the area. But they are very inconsistent with the quality that comes out of the kitchen. We go in almost every Tuesday night... our experience has become a bit of a crapshoot within the past few months. I think my wife described it very well tonight after our pizza crust was so soggy you couldn't even lift a piece without using multiple hands: "It is about a 50/50 chance on the food quality and service here on Tuesdays, but it is half price, so that sort of balances out?" And though those numbers are fairly accurate, I'm not good with that from a customer's perspective. That being said, while our food tonight was terrible, our server was good. So yep, about 50/50... But I'm still only giving 2 stars because I really want them to be so much better than that....
