Hunan Manor — Restaurant in Fayetteville

Our experience was poor at best. We have visited this location on two separate occasions. Our first was done in, we had a bigger group at this time. We decided to try this location based upon positive reviews however they were misleading. The restaurant itself was dirty. The server was rude, possibly having a bad day. The food we had ordered was very bland. No seasonings, and rice was stale as if were sitting the entire day in a steamer. The entire party was unhappy and we ALL ended up getting food sickness possibly poisoning (nausea/vomiting) confirming the location was the cause. Our second visit because a friend wanted to try it even after our advisement of the prior visit, was through drive thru. This experience was worse than the prior. The line was small however it took almost 30 minutes to get through it. At the speaker the employee was aggravated at one additional question about the side options and presented an angry tone. Upon finally arriving at the window the other employee scoffed at the request of soy sauce and was angrily and hastily throwing the purchased items in the bag. After continuing to be polite and thanking them, there was no apology for the wait and no return thank you for the purchase, but that's not all. After waiting in the trojan horse hoping to achieve our victory and eat a delicious meal, their paper containers that they put the soup like protein in were leaking through the bag and into our car. They also forgot the egg rolls...after all of that in Hope's that the food would be better than the prior visit because we ordered different dishes. They were yet again bland and little to no seasoning leading to the question of Asian authenticity...so instead of going back angrily, we made the decision to never go there again and leave an honest review. In Conclusion terrible service, terrible food. 0/10 Highly NOT...

Update: 1/4/21 They have gotten a lot better!! They are still not what the original owners accomplished but we eat there often and they do a good job.

NEW OWNERS!!!!!! My whole family noticed the difference! We've been going there ever since they moved to the brand new location on Wedington, some 7-10 years ago! I was playing it off as a substitute cook for a Sunday and was HOPING it wasn't what the rest of my family thought. But I ordered 2 hot & sour soups on 6/16/17 and it confirmed what we were hoping wasn't true! This WAS the best Chinese in Fayetteville but not at the moment. The food is kind of close but just not the same; the hot & sour tastes more like chicken soup with tofu and spice, and the appearance is lighter, my guess is less soy sauce. The curry chicken was bland compared to what I used to get. I gave it two stars because, in my book, they have a lot to make up. I felt a bit deceived not knowing I would be ordering food that was NOT what Hunan Manor used to be. The staff is completely different; I loved the old staff-you knew it was a authentic family effort. We WILL be trying all the other Chinese restaurants in the area to find something more to our liking, more like the old Hunan Manor. I know it's hard taking over an established, local food venue but I'm not on board yet and it's hard to say if we will ever be on board. We, as a family, didn't eat out that often but when we did, Chinese from Hunan Manor was always an option. I am bummed out about the change. It was TRULY my favorite food to eat. Now I have to find something else or succumb to something that is less. GOOD LUCK, I'll give it six months and we'll try again. In the mean time, we are not...

We have ordered food from this restaurant twice and both times they didn’t add in our complete order and when calling and letting them know they seemed to be fine with it and said they would fix it. The first time they did with no problem, this time the same however when we got there they were asking if I brought back the bags with me so they could review it. They didn’t give us my husband’s cashew chicken or my crab ragoon. It was very frustrating that they kept asking questions and not believing us when I got there especially since the phone conversation was good. They made me feel like I was stealing something when it was 100% their fault. The food is good so it’s a shame we won’t be going there again because of there accusations. Now the dinner we left at home is all cold because we had to make a total trip of 30mins to get our complete order.

Update after eating the food…the cashew chicken did not taste like cashew chicken. It was good, however it wasn’t the same cashew chicken eaten from there or other places...
