Mess Hall 45 — Restaurant in Fayetteville

Guess I have to edit this review. I do not patronize businesses who promote political candidates I disagree with or buy products that are politicized as the same. Which ever side you are on or who you support. I don’t care, and don’t want to know. If you feel compelled to tell me, then you are really pretty arrogant and... stupid. To risk alienating 50% of potential customers? Unfortunately it appears that this one has totally blown it too.

I could overlook “Freedom cabbage” but “putin sause” (and it's misspelled) on a sandwich? PUTIN?!?! Not funny. And not AT ALL appropriate these days. Especially in a U.S. military and patriotically themed restaurant. Russians?!?! Yeah, I had to read the menu to see this. But they might as well hang up Trump for president crap in the restaurant. How tone deaf and stupid.

It’s really unfortunate. I thought I had found a great burger joint in Fayetteville. Reasonable prices. Superior quality. Decent quantity. Nice menu selection. Big tables. Friendly staff. Clean. Interesting WWII GI atmosphere. Half mile from the house. But to get political? I’m not going...

Everything a hometown restaurant ought to be - neighborly service and great food.

Pulled into the parking at exactly 8pm Friday night and could see someone walking to the lit open sign. When he saw us he could have killed the light and locked the door - closing time at the end of the snow and ice covered week we've all had, I wouldn't have held it against him - but he simply welcomed us in. We offered to take dinner to go, but Robert insisted that we stay if we wanted to. I asked him why not close up? His answer "If you're willing to take the time to drive to this restaurant and willing spend your hard-earned money here, it's the least we can do to make you the best meal we can". I agree, but not all do.

The fried pickles and fried jalapeños were both great, the grilled ribeye sandwich I had was excellent and big enouggt to take half home for lunch the next day. I heard no complaints from the better half about the Royal with cheese.

With superb service and food, we are looking forward to making Mess Hall 45 our go to for dinner on...

02/2025 edit: I have been working in fayetteville for awhile now and frequent MH often along w/ my coworker converts. we all love the fried jalapeños (usually get 2-3 orders for the table of 5 people). still have not had a bad sandwich but my favorite is still the veg caprese (with or without chicken). I am a big fan and love sharing this location with friends, family, coworkers and customers/clients. 15/10 in my book!
