La Huerta Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Fayetteville

Ive never felt the need to go out of my way to write a bad review but my sister and I probably experienced the most disrespectful and uncomfortable dinner we've had thus far. We've been,here a few times and service is usually quick, food is always as expected. Yesterday my sister and I went to grab a quick bite and a couple margaritas, we were sat and greeted by our server. Our waitress looked to be in her late 40s so it adds to, she should have known better. She greets my sister and I in Spanish, we stare blankly because we do not speak Spanish, not a lick of it. She continues to speak Spanish to us and finally realizes we have no idea what she's saying and then asks us, "oh you don't understand me?", we reply no mam. She then continues on, "well why not? Why don't you speak Spanish?", my sister and I are native American, from a small town in Oklahoma, so we politely inform her why we do not speak Spanish and the reason why, the reason being we are not of Hispanic origin and have not grown up around the Spanish language. When she hears this, her face literally twisted into a smirk and says,"oh sure ", and then STILL CONTINUES, "Well if you're that, then where are you from then". As if she thinks we are LYING about our ethnicity? We were so uncomfortable and angry that we came to a restaurant for drinks and a meal but instead are being questioned of our heritage as if were liars and should speak Spanish because of what? Our tanned skin and long black hair? When our waitress left we politely let another waiter know what had happened and we asked for another server, instead of giving us another server, they sent her back to our table which she condescendingly checked up on every 5 minutes. Ruined our whole night....

My last review was spot on, but we were there Saturday and it was horrible. We sat 20 minutes with no one asking for our drink order ect, so I asked the bartender if he would please bring us 2 teas and a water. He replied you can ask your server, I said I would but we don't have one can you please just bring us the drinks, and he replied that's not my job, and asked where we were seated. I told him, and asked a third time saying when you get done with what you are doing, just bring us the drinks, please, I went and sat down. He came by and I spoke up saying we are seated right here. He replied with sir I already told you that's not my job, which blew me away, and I said are you kidding, making drinks is what bartenders do, its been over 30 minutes. He got very upset and said I don't have to take this, your being rude asking me to do something not my job. In the meantime, the poor waiter for our section was literally running back and forth, while three gals stood up at the register watching and going on. But NOT helping him. They were obviously having staff issues, but rather than the manager offering to help he stood and let the bartender vent about being asked to help?????

Its been a weekly stop for us for years, but I believe I'll try others out for awhile....atleast until the ownership takes notice and gets this under control. They definitely have staff who know their business, but haven't taken time to train everyone that the customer is always right .

My waiter dropped my first margarita all over me....i didn't have to pay for it but it turns out my "replacement" margarita was actually alcohol free but we were charged for alcohol!! Also upon arrival, food and trash were convering the floor inside the restaurant, waiter said sorry but didn't sweep it up. As if all of this wasn't bad enough, my husband's taco salad came complete with meat and lettuce only, but also a square chunk of grout inside the taco salad!! One can only assume the cooked meat was spilled on the floor and then scraped up into the taco bowl?!? That being said, we notified the waiter etc....they said the manager want available though🙄 neither of us could finish our meals they were barely touched for obvious reasons but we still had to pay for everything!! They screwed us around via the phone about speaking to the manager from 2:08pm until 5om, according to the manager though, she'd been there the entire time!! Her only go to response was to say she'd give us 2 free meals at the same location, we obviously declined. My husband only suggested she keep an eye on her staff, especially in the kitchen. The next two days were filled with stomach cramps and vomiting....
