China King — Restaurant in Fenton Charter Township

This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant. I'm not really sure where they went wrong. They used to have food cooked to perfection and if you ordered enough for a whole family they would throw in some free crab rangoons for ya. Maybe new owners? Today I stopped in and I didn't realize they requested you wear a mask before entering. I dont carry them around anymore and they didn't have them available, so needless to say I did not feel welcome as I always had been in the past. It felt like she just wanted me to get out and had a very concerned look when I opened the tiny little door they stuff your food in for no contact carry-out. It was a rather strange encounter. In addition to the service being sub-par the majority of the food was disappointing. I ordered general tso's which was orange chicken instead (the receipt said general tso's also). The chicken lo mein had very little flavor other than cooking oil and the szechuan chicken didn't had any spiciness to it at all. The fried dumplings were tasteless and although the box said fried, it seemed like they took boiled dumplings threw them in a pan and took them out real quick. They were definitely not fried. The crab Rangoons and the egg drop soup were delicious as always though. They also have the thin crackers for the soup which are the best ones in my opinion so I do appreciate that as well. Next time I want chinese in the fenton area I will be heading to China Garden in Linden. I may try them again in the future, but not again...

This is 0 stars….was hoping to find a nice new spot in fenton for takeout. I ordered the orange chicken with an egg roll. I knew it was trouble as soon as I walked in….the whole place is behind a huge plexiglass covid barrier, which is fine but no one would even walk up to greet me or ask what I had ordered. They just looked at me and went back to what they were doing. Finally the lady behind the glass let me pay for my order and shoved my food so hard through this plastic box that it almost fell on the floor. I just laughed and walked out. The chicken was so nasty it was scary. Brown, soggy, and like rubber. I took two bites and threw the whole thing right in the trash. Totally inedible. I felt sick that I even swallowed it. The best thing about this place is the quality customer service. The young man that typically handles the calls and customer interactions is polite, well-spoken, knowledgeable, and simply a pleasure to do business with. As a paying customer, you just want to deal with a courteous business and not made to feel like you're intruding on their time. Their food is good. I wouldn't say it's special. They've always gotten our orders correct but to be fair, it's a simple order. I think they would make it right though if by chance there was an error, but that's just my speculation. Bottom line, great place to get some comfort food after a long day and you can be sure you'll be treated with respect and kindness after a tiring day at the office or...
