Beale street bbq...the atmosphere is definitely straight from Memphis. The smell of smoke as you walk in. The small down home feel. They even have a blues band playing on the weekends. However, service was very slow. I've been to many bbq places and only one other place took more then 30 minutes to bring our food out. With a wait that long the food should have been 5 star excellent. It was not. Everything was smoked very well. Everything lacked any type of flavor. I don't mean high blood pressure salty flavor. The meats just lacked any sort of seasoning. The bbq sauce was needed to make it better. The dry ribs aren't traditional Memphis style dry ribs. They are just ribs with no sauce. The ribs chicken was dry as if it was sitting under a heat lamp for some time. The brisket was tender but again, no flavor. The mac and cheese and baked beans were good and basic. The mashed potatoes and collards were ok but again, lacking in flavor. The corn bread and bbq sauces were very good. The long wait took a star away and the lack of flavor took away another star. And for the record, I have been living in Tennessee for 10 years by way of nyc. I've tried many bbq places over the years both in tn and ny. I also have been smoking since the 90's.

We were excited to try this place with all the good reviews and we're big fans of good bbq. The restaurant was clean and the service was nice. Unfortunately, the first impression of the food was a big miss. We ordered dinner to-go. We got the chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. For our sides, we got the x4 plus corn bread...which we paid for but did not get the cornbread. The sides were also smaller than anticipated but if the meat was good we'd accept the sizes just fine. We also would have also callled about the missing corn bread. The major disappointment was the meat. It was all very dry and was definitely not "made today" as advertised. The chicken had that same smell that you get from leftover turkey. The pork was very dry as well and seemed to just be reheated. The ribs were not as bad...but "not as bad" isn't what we want from a new BBQ favorite. I would rather this place had told us they ran out if this was the problem to get quality. None of the meat had a smokey flavor that you'd expect even as leftovers. I am uploading photos of the meat we received and you can judge for yourself. I suspect with all the good reviews that there is much better potential than what we saw our first, and probably last, visit.

Love the BBQ here. Always good food no matter what we order. I don't like leaving negative reviews especially a local spot where the food is so good but unfortunately on Friday evening on February 10 we experienced horrific service with no management in the building to help the servers keep up with the "Friday night live band in bar evening". Place was packed and we had no server after being seated. It was suppose to be the bartender but as she was the only one behind the bar that lasted all of 20 minutes. This review is for management. Friday nights, especially when you have live music, an experienced manager needs to be there. Not a very young girl who said "she really is not the manager" but was all that was there. A manager who can clear the tables, run drinks, check on food, check on customers and wash glasses for your bartender. To be a customer who has to get up from the table and find someone to bring drinks, plates to go with appetizers, napkins, find a To Go box (hostess needs to know where these are) and check on our order is not a fun $70 dinner night. Your staff were working as hard as they could but simply the crowd was too much. We would have loved to have stayed and enjoyed the music and a few more drinks but no-one ever asked if we would like another drink. Very disappointing.

2/12/23 - I received a response (see below). As I understand there was a staff shortage my point is this: Owners and management knew this and yet leadership did not show up to support their staff. This was an opportunity to show their staff and customers how...

I had a terrible experience after seconds of just walking in. When I walked in the greeter looked at me and kept writing on his note pad. He did not greet me or even ask if i ordered out and was picking up. Subsequently, i looked around trying to find a menu and couldn't. When the greeter finally handed me a menu, the nicest waiter took my order and told me my food would be ready shortly. Another man came over to tell me my total and I gave him my card. He comes back a few seconds later and gives me my card with my receipt and walks off. He DIDN'T say "your card declined" or "thank you, I'll have your food shortly". He just left. I looked at the receipt and it said DECLINE. I asked him to try my card again because the funds were there. He tried it again and it declined. I told him politely that it may be their card machine and it was because i left and went to the gas station and the card worked just fine. When i came back to pay for my food I tried to tell him that its their card machine and not my card, but he kept shrugging his shoulders as if it wasn't his problem. I had to keep waving him down to ask questions because he kept walking way. When i paid for my meal he gave me my change and walked away. He didn't say "sorry for the inconvenience" "i hope you enjoy your meal" or "I'll talk to our manager about our machine". He didn't say nothing. It was my first time trying that restaurant and I was not satisfied with their customer service and food. I do appreciate the waiter for being very kind and respectful. She was the only highlight of...

I wanted to like this place after hearing great things but I was unfortunately very underwhelmed from start to finish. The interior is a bit run down and haphazard. It looks like they attempted to paint the tables and the black paint is peeling and was sticking to our arms. The service was ok, neither good nor bad. The food was underwhelming at best, and gross at worst. I ordered the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and brisket, with green beans and coleslaw for a side. The brisket was tender but no flavor to speak of. The pulled pork had even less flavor, in fact I couldn't even tell that it was smoked, it tasted like it came out of a crock pot. The coleslaw and green beans were just ok, the green beans were drenched in some kind of pepper vinegar that was over powering. My husband got the ribs and while the were tender, he also said they were lacking in flavor, but he liked the collard greens! My kids ordered the chicken tenders and mac and cheese, and the chicken tenders and fries honestly looked like the best thing on the table. My daughters mac and cheese came out cold, not as in it sat too long and got cold, but like they pulled it out of the fridge and forgot to heat it cold. The waitress brought fresh but even then it was still mushy cavatappi noodles in completely flavorless fake cheese. My daughter is 3, and even she...
