Cancun Mexican Restaurant & Cantina — Restaurant in Fenton

Cancun Mexican Restaurant and Cantina was recommended by my friend Dan C Bearded (check him out on YouTube) and I did not regret coming here!

My wait time was reasonable for a Friday evening as the restaurant was PACKED but they were fast and efficient at keeping hungry patrons coming in as stuffed and satisfied patrons moved out.

We were seated with complimentary chips that were served warm and salsa that had a slight kick on the back end but had amazing flavor! We added a side of cheese sauce for our chips which was slightly runny but had excellent flavor and when our chip basket ran low someone came along and offered us more so we could finish off our cheese and salsa.

I ordered the Tacos Locos which had steak , chorizo, and grilled pineapple on corn tortillas and came with a side of spicy sauce. Wow!! Delicious is the word that best describes the flavor combination I received from each bite of delight I took from this splendid meal!

The sides of beans and rice are always my least favorite thing to look forward to as most restaurants do not do these right with the Plain Jane, zero flavor that they have; but NOT Cancun!! The rice was absolutely fabulous with awesome flavors coming off the perfectly moist veggies and whatever seasonings they put in there. And the beans?? I've NEVER experienced beans that didn't need to have some kind of sauce added to them to make them go down! But these beans were scrumptious, delicious, tasty and a bit cheesy as they were topped with some melted cheese. I would come back just for the rice and beans ALONE!!

Overall my experience here was top notch and they make you feel like family, even while keeping up with the endless flow of hungry patrons constantly pouring in!! A well deserved 5...

The food is excellent. This was my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Unfortunately, the service the last two times I went was not good. Last Sunday we were promptly seated but after 20 minutes without having anyone acknowledge we were there we asked for a server. The hostess couldn’t find our server and finally got a server from another section to take care of us. The meal was excellent and we figured all was well. ..until it was time to pay. I stood by the register for a while eating for someone to take my payment. Finally, someone came to the register but they took the payment of the person in line behind me. Then they left and I had to wait some more. I went back today and was promptly seated and our orders were taken right away. Food was again excellent but when I tried to pay there was no one at the counter. After waiting some time some can to the front but instead of taking payment they started seating people that arrived well after i and others were in line to pay. After three groups were seated I mentioned to the host that we had been waiting to pay and we were there before the folks waiting to be seated. He ten rudely took our payment. After I got out to my car, one of the other people in my group came out and told me the host was complaining that I “couldn’t wait 5 minutes” to pay. This was after waiting much longer than 5 minutes. Apparently the host didn’t realize he was talking to someone in my group. I get that restaurants are understaffed but they should be more aware and take customers in order. I wouldn’t really have minded had the host not been rude and then made like I was in the wrong. We placed a carry out order and got home just to notice some of the food was missing. So we called back to see if they can make it for us so we could come pick it up. Meanwhile on the phone the manager was extremely rude and proceeded to start a argument over the phone saying we never ordered it and we would have to pay for it. Not a big issue.. so we arrive at the restaurant to pick up the food we were missing. He then tells us he will throw it in for free. Which was very nice of him and I was not expecting it what so ever. People make mistakes everyday. But this is where our experience was really bad. The manager comes out into the waiting room that was packed and gave another customer that was right in front of us her order and then makes a smart comment to her that she should check her order to make sure everything was there while making direct eye contact with us. So we let it go. He comes back a few minutes later and gives us the food and rudely yells in front of the entire waiting area which was completely full of customers next time check your order before you leave. We felt so uncomfortable and disrespected. This was our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area by far but after how poorly we were treated we will not be returning. Also not to mention we called back to ask for management because they should be aware of this and was hung up on by...
