One Coastal: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Had the most wonderful experience eating dinner here to celebrate birthdays with my friend Denise. The chef was nominated for a James Beard award and it’s obvious why, but I was worried I’d feel typically out of place somewhere fancy. I was happily mistaken. The atmosphere and design inside One Coastal is relaxed and comfortable, creating a very familiar vibe for us that had us feeling right at home.
The service was attentive and easygoing. Our server Chloe was tattooed and wearing Dickie coveralls, which I loved. After I ordered a mocktail (a mojito), she later brought two flutes of what looked like champagne and said they were nonalcoholic for our birthdays! I was really touched that she considered that, and it was nice to note they pay attention to what was stated in the reservation.
The food was perfection, all the way around. No teeny tiny portions here, the plates had just the right amounts. We shared everything including:
Homemade dinner rolls with honey butter Crab and cucumber remoulade Pear and homemade ricotta salad Cacio e Pepe (made with “really good butter” Scallops and butternut squash (See their site for full descriptions) SALTED BLONDIE-cookie butter pastry cream, peanut caramel, chocolate mascarpone ganache, rye brownie crumble, vanilla ice cream
10/10 recommend. Will hopefully go many more times to try all the other items. Thank you so much One Coastal for such a...
Read moreWhat to say about a One Coastal experience. Well, for starters we had never been there before and probably picked the busiest night they’ve ever had - July 3rd at around 9:30. We hadn’t eaten dinner anywhere yet and were just driving towards Bethany. I had always heard about the place but had never been. We walked in, sat at the bar, and were immediately greeted by both of the bartenders (Alex and jimmy I think) and they treated us like family immediately. After a long day my fiancé and I couldn’t have felt more at home. As we sat at the bar I constantly turned around and watched the kitchen staff prepare everything and saw the sign they had on the wall under the clock that read “every second counts” and every time I turned around to watch them in the kitchen it was magical. And then, once the food came out, it was nothing short of spectacular, dare I say one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had and I feel like I’ve been around the block. I waited until the end of service before going up to the head chef and telling him how remarkable of a job he did, and he said it was one of the hardest services he’s had. He absolutely crushed it and truly made every second count for us in and out of the kitchen. We couldn’t have had a better experience over all. Don’t wait if you haven’t been like we did, you’ll just miss out on the experience...
Read moreWe seldom go out for dinner but when we do, we look for non-chain, local restaurants with amazing chefs. For our Anniversary yesterday, we decided to try One Coastal in Fenwick Island, DE. We were not disappointed. James Beard nominated chef Matt Kern delivered a scrumptious beef tartare with beef bone marrow aioli and roasted pistachios that was so good, we wanted to lick the plate. He sourced the beef from Trueth Farms near Baltimore. His signature pork chop was phenomenal. Sourced from a Duroc Farm not far from the restaurant, the Heritage pork was pan seared and served with Castle Valley Mills farro & charred eggplant salad, blistered “green bee” tomatoes, arugula, sauce romesco, and tzatziki. I would never have paired pork with tzatziki but was it ever good. And he has the most amazing mixologists that served up incredible cocktails that I’m hoping to replicate. 🥰 But as impressive as the food was, his staff was more so. We felt like we were having dinner with long lost friends who doted on our every whim. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being prepared and we were able to meet Matt and thank him after our dinner. It was truly a spectacular experience and a place we will return whenever possible. If you’re in Fenwick Island, this is a must stop. But be sure to make a reservation! It’s a small, quaint place so it...
