Very disappointed. Tried to support a local business. Checked the hours before walking to their establishment. We arrived 45 minutes before closing. Girl serving inside ran and locked the door before we could enter pushing customers inside out as she slammed the door. Her partner was standing there laughing while the 1st girl dipped around the corner. Mean while 2 more people walked up. She finally came to the door and offered the explanation that the owner said they could close early. We left, met 2 more people on our way to a different creamery and informed them news of the new closing time. They were also disappointed. I usually don't leave bad reviews but I'm hoping the owner is able to review good business practices with their employees for future customers. This ice cream remains top tier quality after many years and a lot of growth. That is unusual and something to be proud of. You can tell that the ingredients are quality. Their ice cream is creamier than it is sweet, which I prefer. My only feedback is that I am begging you to staff up your smaller locations, especially if you're going to offer milkshakes. The line in Fenwick tonight was just wild. I'm so glad you're popular and everyone has realized that Vanderwendes is elite, but this line was nuts and you only had three people working - meaning one person scooping, one on register and one making milkshakes. I am very disappointed with this store. My husband and I arrived at 8:00 PM excited to have some ice cream and we were turned away at the door because they "close" at 8:00 PM which is when we arrived. Seriously, I said, are you kidding to the young girl who was turning us away? She said no we are closing! She could have let us come in and then locked the door after we went in.
