It’s a misty Monday afternoon here in Fitchburg, MA. Ed is manning the stove — and just about everything else — down at the 5th St Diner. His wife usually works mornings he says. The bell rings — that’s a customer. Ed surveys the situation and instantly takes charge. “Cahfee?” he says as we walk through the door. “Yes please,” we reply.

Read moreok this place has been here for 7+ years and has never been reviewed????? ok it is what i would call a dive diner, it is small, maybe 5 booths and maybe an 8 seat counter. it looks old and i guessing in previous times it had also been a diner. it is located to a good butcher shop. not much to look at, hundreds(or more) of photos line the walls. seemed like a 2 person operation but the service was pleasant and attentive. food was great for the money, probably as good an omelet as i have had in the area. so it's oldish and could use a spiffing up but very good food. you might want to...
Read moreLoved it. Small hometown diner, with pictures covering almost every wall space they can. We went in at noon, grabbed the only open table, and realized the owner was by himself. He was taking tables, had a couple guys at the breakfast counter, and he was cooking. We got the full stack of chocolate chip pancakes, and turkey club. They were awesome. Pancakes as bug as the plate and the club was on point...yummy!! We were out of there in less than 40 minutes, even with talking a bit after we finished eating. I...
