I was so excited to find this place!! My daughter who lives in Fitchburg and I wanted to go to a local place that was not Ihop or Dennys to get some breakfast food. We decided to try this place which is tucked away right on Main St in Fitchburg based on location & reviews. It was about 1145am and we parked right in front on Main St.
We were seated at a small table right near the cash register, which was fine. There was a musician playing and the atmosphere was very calming. I was pretty sure it was going to be a bit more expensive than I wanted but figured we'd give it shot this one time. While the menu looked delicious, there was not exactly what we were looking for. Regardless, my very outgoing daughter asked the waitress if she could get sausages a pancake and home fries and I asked for an egg and home fries. I thought we'd go elsewhere if they couldn't do it as we had our hearts set on breakfast. Well, what a pleasant surprise when the waitress enthusiastically told us of course she could make that!!
While we were waiting, (I went to bathroom which was top notch btw), my daughter dropped her entire 5 inch binder of pictures and artwork she carries with her everywhere, all over the floor. I came out of the bathroom and the wait staff and other customers were patiently, and kindly helping her pick everything up while we were waiting for our food.
The food showed up quickly, and was EXCEPTIONAL in every way!! Every bite was a treat though neither of us could finish the generous portions of home fries (more for later!). All cooked to perfection, not greasy or overly spicy.
We ate up and as we awaited the bill, I expected it might be pricey based on the rest of the menu and b/c we both had special orders. Fantastically, it was NOT expensive at all, which made this experience even better!!
I highly recommend this restaurant for the food, the service, the atmosphere (very nice w/musician on a Sunday morning, table a bit small) and the price!!
So, if you are in the area, check out this gem!!! Just a...

Pauper's Pantry is a quaint little place. It's smallish, and the noise level just right for the room. When we walked in, I recognized the layout, but can't recall when I'd been there before. Breakfast, I think. For starters, in spite of my self-imposed calorie restrictions, the Short Rib Poutine was irresistible and delicious!
Guest #1 was my son, who savored a Butternut Squash Bisque before slamming the Arancini Seafood Tower, while my wife enjoyed a Roast Turkey Melt. The food is fresh and the sandwich looked homemade with thick toast and fresh-carved turkey. Speaking of fresh, I opted for the Asian Lettuce Wraps with grilled avocado, and everything on the plate looked like it was harvested that day!
As you can tell, the menu is quite varied when one can enjoy a turkey sandwich and another can satisfy a dinner craving for an Asian dish while a fancy, decadent seafood dish rounds out the trifecta.
Finally, our server was wonderful and surprisingly, our bill before tax came in under $90....
Read moreSuch cute dining spot. Antique decor, boat blue, quaintish but sophisticated. The jazz player us such a nice touch to Sunday brunch. Suitable for the atmosphere. Cozy dining spot but not tight. Courteous staff, quick service, decent menu options and average price. Loved the mocktail menu, didn't get to try but very tempting. I'd go back just to try..haha The food was tasty. The chicken Benedict with gravy was different. I liked it! Only thing, at first if the gravy is not smothered and soak biscuit enough, then the first few cuts will be crumbling and messy. Lobster Benedict was great!
Went back on 4/28/24....another pleasant experience. Just didn't think the muffin was worth it. The interest of assorted muffins makes it sound like an invitation to a plate of a couple bite size muffins and a piece of bite size bread. The wording on the menu needs to be revised to represent what is actually given , which is a choice...
