Great little place for a brunch. I find that during the week is less busy than a weekend or after Church on Sundays where you will be waiting a good while before getting a seat or meal if eating with more than one person. It's a quaint little place with a nice fresh atmosphere. I feel the menu is appropriate however I do question some of their more complex choices such as a Mediterranean salad served with traditional Greek tzataiki, feta cheese and hummus yet lacks an appropriate dressing to accommodate such salad. Were the rare and special Greek Salad served occasionally lacks the traditional tzataiki or Greek olives but comes with a Greek vinaigrette dressing. I find that these salads are a bit misplaced. Keeping in mind that these are a course the highlighted items that I'm going to review being that it's part of what I favorite most on a menu. I believe the breakfast items are probably what is preferred when dining here. And I can see this noted by the quality of the breakfast items. I would also have to mention that the many fun coffees and teas would be a highlight and reasoning to return. I do question other dishes that I fill that are odd in mix for an example āSmoked Salmon Hashbrownā doesnāt appeal to be appetizing, and not one I am dying to try. I am sure if there are some fans willing to give it a go, they might be able to make it a favorite to some. In fairness my recommendation would be to re-examine the odd combination of food choices and limit the menu two breakfast/brunch style items along with their great choices of coffees and teas. I believe with the right adjustment Hi Tulip Cafe will be a local favorite long term. Over all Hi Tulip Cafe does...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a mini brunch date with my sister and when we meet up once a year, we always head to this restaurant. All is/was well, except the small portions of food for the price listed in the menu. I asked for a fruit cup, which the server said there were about 4-5 types of fruits in the bowl. I expected a small fruit bowl but this only contained one tiny TINY piece of watermelon and pineapple, with maybe 5 grapes. I asked for this to be taken off the bill and the server stated this is usually how it comes out. If Iām paying $3-$4 for a fruit cup, I expect at least a few full pieces of different fruits, not just a few grapes. My sister got a BLT which contained a small-fullish piece of bacon, which half was chopped up and didnāt look intentional. I asked why they only use one piece of bacon or if this was just my sisters sandwich, and the server said thatās usually typical. I think the quality of food has diminished at this restaurant and itās sad because we really liked this and it was a staple for our meetups. The server was nice and took the fruit bowl off the bill, which I wanted, but made it seem like it was my fault for even asking. I also got a frozen frappe as well. I donāt know if this was always a separate charge, but they charge you additional for flavoring. If you want BLACK frozen coffee, itās the price listed in the menu. Who knew flavoring would be additional?! Was this trip just a one off? I donāt know but I probably wonāt be going back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been to this restaurant twice now. Our first experience was great and we decided this would be our weekly breakfast spot. The service sas wonderful and the food was perfect.
Today we visisted the restaurant for the second time and the experience was just the opposite-terrible! The waitress was almost rude, food was not prepared correctly. Toast was burnt around the edges, poached eggs came with water in the bowl instead of being poured off by the cook, the hot chocolate was ordered without whipped cream and it came with whipped crream, the cornbeef hash was not what I expected- hashbrowns served with a little bit of cornbeef chopped on top of it.
The waitress did a pass by and shouted as she went by "everything ok here" and continued to the kitchen. My wife asked me if she was talking to us?
Another person had an issue with their order and when she asked the waitress for an explanation she responded "I'm just doing my job."
I can understand some order errors, but the extablishment seems to pride itself on excellence in food and service. I honestly think they are not in touch with what is really going on around them. We will not be back. To us service is everything, if you don't have it you aren't going to keep your valued customers no matter how large your customer base is, eventually it will catch up with you. In our case it already has, we will...
