Stopped by for lunch. I would rate overall as 3.5 stars. The experience was middle of the road. Decor was nice and service was good but overall the food was average. First, let's discuss the salsa, in my opinion a big indicator on whether a Mexican resturant going to be a good experience. The chips have to be hot and salsa has to be cool. It makes the salsa / chip experience much better. My chips were not warm and salsa was room temp. plus salsa tasted a little flat, maybe if more cilantro and lime were introduced that might have helped. Next was the guac, not a bad flavor but still room temp. I think guac should be cold and treated like the salsa but maybe that is just my preference.
For my meal, I ordered 3 soft shell tacos: one was with ground beef, and the other two were steak and pineapple. The ground beef taco was served on an individual plate. The flavor was good and a little messy but tasty and temperature hot. The steak tacos were served on a red hot plate...nice and was accompanied with black beans and lime infused rice, both that weren't touched - I was just in the mood for tacos. The steak and pineapple tacos were delicious, bursting with flavor with a good mix of sweet and spice.
Overall a nice place, but $29 is a little pricey for lunch and for serving a little below average salsa. If I came back, it would only be for the steak and...
Read morePros and cons...
Pros: The portions were huge! The beef in the burrito was tasty
Cons: The chicken in the quesidilla was just ok. It was mostly tasteless chicken and a bit dry.
The noise level was possibly the loudest we've experienced in some time inside at a restaurant. If you hope to carry on a conversation, you can probably forget that.
I asked for a little sour cream to take home with my leftovers and the waitress said sure. She never said it would be an extra charge let alone $1.75! Hopefully, she will remember to point out to the customer that it isn't a problem but then mention the cost of it. To be honest, restaurants should be able to throw in a small salad dressing size scoop of sour cream for somebody's leftovers to take home without charging them let alone the cost of what we probably could have bought a whole tub for at Publix...lol. Sure we can afford the 1.75 but it's more the principal of not saying there would be a charge and charging that much for it.
It really put us off to ever really wanting to go back especially since the food (other than the beef) was just OK.
Maybe others will have a better experience here as I can see...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Margarita Island We have generally had a pleasant dining experience at Margarita Island, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Luis, a fantastic bartender. However, our most recent visit was marred by a disappointing encounter with a female bartender who failed to meet the high standards of service we have come to expect from this establishment. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with the Ceviche, which was excessively sour and lacked a balanced flavor, we were met with a dismissive attitude from the female bartender. Her shrugging of the shoulders and failure to address the issue only added to our disappointment, making the experience even more unpleasant. This lack of attention to customer concerns is unacceptable and detracts from the overall quality of service. While Luis's excellent service has been a highlight of our visits, the poor service we received from the female bartender last night was a significant letdown. We hope that the management will take steps to address this issue and ensure that all. This incident left a sour taste in my mouth both literally and...
