Pappy's Cookin' — Restaurant in Flatwoods

Service started out good. We came when it close to closing but called ahead of time and the lady was nice and said she would make sure we had a seat. Got in and ordered. We ordered a sampler appetizer, country fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and cornbread, and a pork chops sizzler that was supposed to be a grilled pork chop with veggies. The country fried steak dinner was done way before the other food, and it sat on the serving shelf in the back for a good 10 minutes before it came out with the other food. Everything is supposed to be home cooked,, but clearly being able to see straight back into the kitchen, there were so many cans of food. When we got the food, the steak platter had steak with gravy, corn, green beans and potatoes, and all the juice had sat and soaked up in the breading of the steak making it taste like the food that we didn't order for reasons of, not liking that food. Pork chops were fried, not grilled. And the veggies were not fresh at all. We were clearly leaving plates full of food, without complaining due to the nice service AT FIRST, and it being the end of the night. Server came and brought the check with the touchless payment option on THEIR bill, which we took advantage of. We left the tip, paid the bill and even said bye before leaving. Once out the door, the little server came running out "um excuse me, you need to pay".... VERY OFFENSIVE, if you all are going to have a system like this in place for paying customers, you should make sure you can see the system and know payment was made BEFORE chasing your paying customers out the door to make sure they paid, wouldn't you think? So rude and not good customer service at all, especially after the food was old, and not what was ordered correctly anyway. Would not recommend unless they get some better manners when dealing...

This says my visit was 2 months ago but I was here again Sunday march 3rd. I drove over just for lunch here with my daughter. We ordered from the menu and added the soup and salad. The food we ordered was great as expected. The salad bar was a bit disappointing this time. The boiled eggs weren't a little green but so much the white had begun to change. Most items on the bar didn't seem very fresh. Which was sad because on my first visit it was the freshest I had seen in a long time. It was Sunday and busy so i was surprised by that. But still not the reason for only 3 stars. I think I had 3 waitresses but I'm not for sure. I know Tamara was on our receipt and who came to our table the most and she was great. The other lady which we had the first time we came was awesome as well. She has the very short hair with the tattoo on her neck. Sorry we didn't get her name. But she was great and was working her butt off to make sure everyone was getting taken care of. But the 3rd was another girl I believe either had a lip or nose piercing wasn't so great. In fact she was quite rude in the way she was talking to coworkers in front if the entire restaurant. I almost left because of her. She seemed to be pretty full of herself and at one point was rolling her eyes as an older gentleman checked out and was trying to carry a conversation as if to say "shut up and go on" which really frustrated me. I will return and hopefully this day she was having a bad day because an employee with an attitude like that can absolutely knock business down. Nobody wants to eat somewhere where they feel...

0 stars, actually negative stars if I could! I got the salad bar and it was empty and what was there looked rotten. There was flies landing on the food, which is disgusting! My family and I did not get refills because my server kept disappearing to the kitchen. For as much time as she spent in the kitchen I assumed that she had to make it all herself. For the place to be as dead and empty as it was, it took way too long to get the food to the table. I also had to wipe my own table down with sani-wipes because it was dirty and sticky. The waitress was sweet and she tried but I feel as though she is overworked and probably does way more than a waitress should. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the wait.
