The first time I ever tried this place, about a year ago, it was great. I had the hamburger steak and gravy. A few months after that, we stopped there again (we travel to Jackson every 2 to 3 months for a dr) and my food was terrible. I got the brisket and it was so dry and leathery I could not eat it, but my father in law and my mother bragged on their fish plates. So today we decided to give it another try because it was a cozy little place with friendly staff if nothing else...NOT TODAY. our waitress was terrible. She did not listen to much of anything, kept giving my mom my orders, brought me boneless wings instead of the 10 piece bone in wings then blamed it on the people in the back. I was starving but really didn't want the frozen boneless wings with the oily "bbq" sauce they drenched them in so I asked to have them replaced with the wings I originally ordered. 15 minutes later they brought me a plate of bone in wings that were almost raw and were cooked (tasted like soaked) in fish oil. They were disgusting!!!!!! They tasted exactly like raw fish, drenched in the same oily "bbq" sauce. My mother's fried fish was so hard she could barely bite into it and the greens she had with it had so much sugar in it she couldn't eat them. I was so disgusted and disappointed because I had been looking forward to stopping there all day. I brought my ticket to the supposed manager at the desk and told her I wanted to take the wings off my ticket because I couldn't eat fishy almost raw chicken wings. She just shrugged her shoulders and said "ok". I'm not sure if they are under new management/cook or all of the above but they are horrible and my family and I will never return there!! The entire ride home of over an hour I was nauseated and sick to my stomach from the 2 wings I tried to eat!! This place is a joke!! The people giving it 5 stars must've never had a real home cooked meal before and...
Read moreThis place is terrible. Got the pulled pork sandwich.... They don't make their own pulled pork. I took a couple bites and asked the waitress, this isn't made here is it. Oh yes sir it... Mam this taste like curleys or any other BBQ from a plastic container at a grocery store. Silence, she just said I'm sorry sir you don't like it. So I ate a couple more nibbles and left that alone. The green beans are green beans, can't really mess that up. I tried the baked beans, just tasted like brown sugar nothing good going on there either.
I eat a lot of BBQ from Jackson down to Mobile. Never ever had pulled pork this mushy, no smoke taste with generic ketchup BBQ sauce. If they do make their own it comes from a crockpot, but I doubt that.
The waitress didn't seem concerned, usually a place would ask if there is something else you wanted or would take it off your bill, nah not this place. I checked out, the cashier asked me how it was. I said it's terrible, this isn't homemade BBQ. Then he proceeded to tell me. The local mayor makes their BBQ sauce? I said it's precooked BBQ scooped out of a tub... Oh no sir we make our own BBQ... Sure you do, funny you don't even smell any smoke anywhere and they were supposedly making more ribs because they were sold out. I said I shouldn't even be paying for this, but I am not like that and figured it was their place to make it right, but didn't.
They may make something there, but I can guarantee you the pulled pork is not. I paid the full ticket, but I am never going back, and will try to save others from making the same mistake I did.
Don't fall for this cash grab. It wasn't good, and I don't know how they have the rating they do. Do your self a favor and just go to Walmart and buy yourself a tub of premade pulled pork and save your self the money and disappointment.
The pic below is exactly how I left it. Wasted 18$, but...
Read moreSo… tonight my boyfriend and I decided to grab food on our way home (we had the dog with us, so we couldn’t sit in and eat). While trying to decide on something other than junk food between Richland and Florence, we decided on Smoke house of Florence. I’ve never eaten there and had a little BBQ craving, he said he’d eaten there before about 2 years ago and the steak was good. So, Smoke house it was. I called in the order, filet (medium) with a loaded baked potato, side salad with no cheese and a Ribeye (medium) with the same sides (cheese on the salad). When we got home and I opened everything up to plate it, there was a plate with a loaded sweet potato and both salads had cheese (premade salads). Not the end of the world. We both like sweet potatoes and I could pick most of the cheese off my salad. I cut into my filet, rare/medium rare, absolutely NO FLAVOR, tasted like it had been thawed in water, boiled and then thrown on a grill for 2-3 minutes. It was grey y’all, the steak was grey! My BFs extra thin ribeye had burnt edges and was well done, had to cut it with a serrated knife and chewed like leather, while ALSO tasting of water. He opted for the sweet potato and I took the baked potato. My potato had 2-3 rotten spots on the inside that would have been visible when whoever cut it open to dress it would have seen. $66! $66 for a burnt water flavored ribeye, an undercooked water flavored filet and a rotten potato. Make your own decisions on where to eat, but I will never grace that...
