I shopped at this location in Florence for 14 years, it ended when I was lied to after being sold products that clearly state on the products website they are artificial and after being made to feel as if I had done something wrong when I asked why the employees, two of them managers, was giving out false information. I purchased what I thought was CBD Tincture and gummies, as anyone who buys CBD products knows they are very expensive. I thought it was odd after having a history with CBD products that the brand I was buying didn't seem to be working. At first I thought it was me because I went into Healthy Alternative so much and always trusted what I was told, boy was I wrong for so many years. You see I went in looking for Queen City Hemp Tincture, during my first visit they only had one bottle of 250 that looked like someone had tried to open it. When I got it home the cap had been so damaged that getting it open was something I could not do due to severe arthritis. They only had one brand of gummies so I asked the man behind the counter if he knew if the products were local, then explained I try to buy local as much as possible. He told me yes, that the company was in Kentucky. He never looked at the container so I assumed he knew the product. I then asked are you sure? And he told me yes that he was a manager and knew the products in the store. Because I got the gummies with the Queen City Hemp I never noticed they weren't working as much as I did the second time when I again purchased the gummies but this time I also bought the companies Tincture. I did ask if they had any Queen City Hemp products and was told no we are all out, this time by a women. After a few days it was easy to see something was wrong. I thought it was odd that the Tincture was yellow and thick like it had something added to thicken it so I looked at the bottle. Not only was the product not local, the company is in Las Vegas and it's made in California, but it says right on their website which has now been removed and replaced with different information that the plants are completely artificial and grown in a laboratory. As far as the yellow color and thickening they use tapioca as a filler which explained it. I called Healthy Alternative and asked why they were telling customers that it was a local product and mentioned the information I found out about it being artificial. I was then told again by a women who again told me she was a manager that the product came from New Zealand. When I said no it says right on their website that they are located in Vegas and the products came out of San Diego she told me well we were told they came from New Zealand. So I asked her you don't check or follow up? That these are expensive products. She told me we expect our costumers to do their own research and the work to find that information out. When I also mentioned I was told they were out of Queen City Hemp products she told me I don't know why you were told that we always have them. So I asked her do you have them now so I can come in there and discuss this further? She stumbled and said ah no we don't right now. Then she became defensive and asked me what exactly do you expect here a refund? What are you getting at? So I told her I expect a store that is going to sell me products that cost hundreds of dollars to know where the products are coming from or at the very least know if they're going to work. That's when she told me well you can come in to talk to the store manager they'll be here tomorrow. So I said I'm supposed to go out of my way to get the same run around because you can't answer a question and also give out false information? That's when she told me I don't know what else to tell you. I'm not overly picky but I do expect that when I walk into a store and pick up products that cost hundreds of dollars and ask a question that if an employee does not know the answer they look it up or read a bottle. We go in and the staff was very attentive to their current customers, and we had time to browse peacefully. A sweet staff member came and spoke with us to help us find certain products, some of which were out of stock so she promptly took a note to call me when they came in. One was a book about therapeutic herbs that I am ecstatic to purchase. Later in our stroll a staff member overheard one of my family's dietary needs and recommended some products they had on hand. She and I began to speak about a condition my husband has, and she recommended two products one of which I purchased. She explained why each ingredient would he beneficial and at checkout even gave some samples of another product. Even though I was offered help multiple times by staff, it was an extremely low pressure environment and they know how to make you feel comfortable. They also spoke on how knowledgeable their boss and store owner was. I thought that was nice because he wasn't in at the moment and they still spoke highly of him. I didn't speak to the third staff member there, but I'm sure she was lovely as well. I was helped by a white, blonde woman and an African American woman with dark hair. Matt was incredibly kind and took the time to listen. He didnāt rush me or treat me like just another customer. His deep knowledge of the natural products he carriesāand his genuine desire to helpāstood out right away. He guided me to a few specific items that ended up bringing my dad some much-needed comfort in his final days. Iāll always be grateful for that.
The store itself has an amazing inventory of high-quality, natural products, but what makes it truly special are the smiling faces and warm, compassionate service. You can tell this place is built on caring about people, not just sales.
