I had the worst experience at this restaurant, and it didn't make any sense other than the bartenders were drunk. They wouldn't wait on me at the bar. I had to ask for everything. When I arrived, after doing yoga next door at the yoga studio, I sat at the bar. The short, heavy male bartender went over to the short, chubby female bartender and said something to her. They both looked at me and then weird stuff started. Neither one would wait on me. When the female came over, I had to ask her to help me. This was after I was there for 15 minutes, and they were both helping other "regulars" and washing glasses. Finally, the female took my order for 3 tacos (taco Tuesday, 11/1/22 at about 7:30pm). My food never came after 30 minutes of waiting while other food arrived for people who arrived after me. They didn't bring me chips and salsa but other people who arrived after me were asked if they wanted them. Finally, after being there for 45 minutes and only drinking a soda water, the short female bartender came close enough for me to ask about my food. She went over to the computer, put my order in (this was half an hour AFTER I had ordered it) and left for the kitchen and didn't return for about 10 minutes. During this time, I watched the heavy male bartender drink 4 shots of liquor. So, he was working while intoxicated. And then, he was going to drive home drunk??? I went to leave but the bartender had hidden my keys. When I started looking for them, I noticed she had hidden them in front of the seat next to me under several napkins when she cleaned the counter. Then I heard the male bartender say, "she's looking for them right now". And they both turned and looked at me. Why, you may ask, would anyone treat another person, let alone a customer this way, your guess is as good as mine. But, my guess is they have some serious pathology going on not to mention a drinking problem. Or perhaps they just don't like white women who do yoga. Keep in mind, I was not drinking. At any rate, it was the worst experience I've ever had in a dining establishment. If the staff are OK to treat customers this way, they obviously have cart blanch by the owners or managers to do so. I have reported the drinking to the police department who assured me they would be watching out for employees leaving drunk. Also, they informed me that if employees leave drunk and get into an accident, the establishment can be held liable. I have also placed a call to the ABC to inform them of what is going on there. I will update my post once I hear back. I will also write a review for the BBB. I may go back late one night, sit and observe the bartenders drinking excessively and then call the police when they close. Hopefully, they will get pulled over for drunk driving and a life may be saved. As far as the rest of the experience, when I arrived there was no hostess to seat me which is why after waiting 10 minutes, I went to the bar. Good luck! This is a...
Read moreWorst meal EVER! The chips weren’t homemade like they were in previous visits. The salsa was tasteless, had to add hot sauce to make it better. That was strike 1. Strike 2, I ordered the steak fajitas. Whatever the meat they tried to pass off as steak was awful, so well done and so tough I had to spit it out into my napkin. I wondered where was the fajita seasoning! The onions were burnt. The entree wasn’t sizzling when delivered. I ordered double refried bean. The portion wasn’t a double portion. They had no flavor. I have had better beans from a can! The flour tortillas were not homemade, they were store bought and they had to have been sitting on the warming tray for hours. Every other Mexican restaurant and every Tex Mex restaurant serves lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese and pico de gallo. They served everything EXCEPT shredded cheese! I was told the cheese was not included. What? I asked for the manager. Told him I couldn’t eat the fajitas and asked for the chicken fajitas. They were better, delivered once again without the sizzle. Who does that. The server delivered the new order not the manager. He never came back around to make sure I was happy. In fact, we never saw him again! My husband’s meal was not any better. We get the bill. We were charged for the lettuce, sour cream and guacamole! The server said the manager didn’t charge me for the cheese! We were so disgusted with our meals and wanted to get out or I would have argued about the additional charges. No where on the menu did it say there would be additional charges. The server should have disclosed that to us. She appeared to be new, not her fault. She may not have known either. So very disappointed that the manager never came back to apologize. He didn’t offer a free dessert. He must be new and probably won’t last long, STRIKE 3! The bar area is close to the dining area. There were 2 very loud customers talking with the bar person. She was just as loud and they all were loudly using the “f” word very freely. A good manager would have asked the bar person to stop being so disruptive, a great manager would not have that problem and he or she would guarantee customer satisfaction! We will never go back, we will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and we urge residents and tourists, DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT! There are way too many other great Mexican restaurants in town! They don’t deserve any stars but had to click on one in order to post my review. PS, I feel sorry for the employees, they have to serve this awful food...
Read moreWe went to Acapulco Mexican Restaurant for lunch for the first time. When we arrived they were somewhat busy, and only had two servers working, so, consequently the service lacked. There were three in our party and the server brought one cereal sized bowl with about 12 chips and a small saucer of salsa with approximately 2 tablespoons of salsa in it. Really? 12 chips and enough salsa for only 3 of them.
Ok, – so we order three lunch specials, with two of them being Fajita Steak Nachos and the third a combo with tacos. When I eat Mexican food, especially with tacos or nachos, it normally comes with all the salsa you need or want. Not only did they serve the lunches without salsa, we had to ask for salsa, wait 5 minutes (because they did not have enough help) and then pay $1.00 for each salsa!(Again, the salsa has about 2 tablespoons each)
Ok -- so we get the check, and in addition to the extra charge for salsa, we were charged a 3% service fee for using a credit card. AGAIN, REALLY. What's next? You need a fork to eat your lunch with – oh, that will be an extra charge --- oh you need a napkin to wipe you face – they are 25 cents each. Does McDonalds charge you for salt to put on your fries? And if they did, would you eat there? I realize that this is a small business and they need to cover their cost, but COME ON! If you can not figure out how to build these cost into your price structure, maybe you should not be operating a restaurant. Your customers don't want to be nickel-ed and dime-ed when they go out to eat, especially when there are other restaurants that don't do this. And if you are going to serve salsa, give us enough for all 12 chips!
So: They don't have enough servers They offer you 12 chips and hoard their salsa They don't server their dishes with salsa If you ask for salsa, you get 2 tablespoons and charged for it They charge a 3 percent fee for a credit card
If the owner of the Acapulco Restaurant thinks this is the kind of customer experience that will make a customer want to come back, they are sorely mistaken – and because of this --WE...
