Arepera La Nueva — Restaurant in Florida

Hallacas? My review is for Hallacas only... My family and I are extremely disappointed with the hallacas that we purchased from Arepera La Nueva this year. Well, they cannot even be called "hallacas". Whomever made them is either NOT venezuelan or has NEVER made hallacas, nor seen anyone make them. When opening the hallaca, and every venezuelan knows that this is an almost religious experience, they were falling apart, and looked like a huge "blop" of dough, almost like a tamal or pastel (which is very different than what we make). The traditional "guiso" (beef stew) consisted of what seemed to be a whole, long piece of meat or one boneless rib and a lot... A LOT... of pieces of beef fat. Then the taste... God, even trying to explain what they tasted like is impossible. I have no words. Simple the worse hallacas we have ever tasted. Could not eat them... they all went into the trash :( Wish I could say that at least they tasted good or OK, but the taste was as bad as the look :( I don't understand what happened, this place used to make good hallacas, we ordered from here a few years ago and they were fine. Maybe a change of ownership happened or cook?. If I could, I would give it "0" stars... And trust me, I do not take pleasure in leaving this review. We were very excited to have our traditional venezuelan Christmas dinner, but it was not that at all! Stay away from...

La comida excelente, esta es la razon por la q hemos venido por tantos años pero tristemente el sercio por parte de Jennifer la cajera es muy malo. Desde el momento en el qye nos acercamos a hacer el pedido fue grosera con nosotros, no mantuvo apurando cuando no habia nadie en linea esperando por ser atendido. El servicio al cliente es tan importante como la calidad de la comida y ella simplemente nos hizo sentir q la estabamos molestando al venir a comer aqui. The food is excellent and super yummy, reason why we have come for many years. Unfortunately the service from Jennifer, the cashier, wasn't good at all. Since the moment that we approached her to place the order she started being rude, pushing us even though there was nobody behind us in line. The customer service is as important and the food quality is and Jennifer just make us feel like we where bothering her with our presence. The kitchen guys where much more kind to us 🙌.

Debí haber leído los recientes reviews pero me dejé llevar por los recuerdos de hace ya más de 4 años cuando en realidad quedaba altamente satisfecho por lo que pagaba y recibía. Lamentablemente en esta ocasión no fue el caso. Para empezar me pareció muy extraño que incluyéndome habían solamente 4 clientes consumiendo en el establecimiento. Ya tenía en mi mente lo que iba a comprar…. 2 empanadas de carne molida y 2 de carne mechada. Pasé la tarjeta y ni siquiera me percaté de ver el menú y mucho menos el recibo ya que me imaginé que el monto sería muy similar a lo que había pagado en otras oportunidades. La gran decepción que me llevé fue al llegar a casa y ver el tamañito de las empanadas que parecían realmente “pasapalitos”… Súper pequeñas, Súper delgaditas, Con el famoso “Spray de carne” como le decimos en Venezuela. Siendo exactamente como las fotos que salen en los otros reviews. Ya no eran “bien resueltas” como antes. Y cuando veo el recibo…casi que me da un “patatus” por 4 empanaditas $25 dólares!!! más el tax. Y a las pruebas me remito, lo pueden ver claramente en el recibo que aparece en la foto. Ósea que cada una es a $ 5.19 !!! Señores y señoras…el propio atraco.! Y además las guardan crudas en el freezer y las fríen cuando llega uno a comprarlas. Déjenme decirles que saben bien, pero jamás tendrán ese sabor y crujientes que tiene una que haya sido hecha al momento.

Y por último vi el relleno de “huevos de codorniz” una de mis favoritas en Venezuela y tuve el valor y la osadía de preguntarle al señor que estaba sirviendo, …amigo, cuánto cuesta la arepa de “huevos de codorniz”? Y su respuesta muy normal y natural fue “ $12.49!!! 😳 💔😩 +tax. Chamo! No salí corriendo porque estaba esperando por las “empanaditas” sino lo hubiese hecho.

En resumen, me atrevo a emitir el siguiente comentario… lamentablemente a algunas personas Dios les da la oportunidad de poder salir de su país, montar un negocio pero arrastran con sus malas mañas y costumbres de querer hacer lo mismo que hacen en sus países. Volverse rico de la noche a la mañana y eso no debe de ser así y mucho menos permitirse. Por casualidad aquí en USA no habrá un “Ministerio de Fomento”??? y si no pues también fácilmente el BBB (Better Business Bureau) Tal vez puedan comerse una “empanadita” también. Por eso fue que me acordé del famoso “Spray de carne” como algunos venezolanos le solemos llamar.

Señores y señoras yo sé que nadie absolutamente está obligado a consumir en cualquier establecimiento, yo pude haber ido fácilmente a otros 2 sitios que conozco y las empanadas oscilan entre $2.25 y $2.50. Pero tuve que pasar por esa experiencia. Ahora lo ÚNICO BUENO de todo esto es que cuando “vaya” a la “Arepera La Nueva“ usted tendrá la oportunidad de ser el primero en ser atendido.
